I watched this on Tubi recently after not having seen it since it came out. This was a great thriller all around. The plot is about two guys who hear about gold artifacts hidden in a run down industrial building in a not so good area of E. St Louis. They witness Ice-T's gang doing gang things and we go from there. You have all kind of drama on both sides. Ice T as the gang leader is one of his best roles. Being the level headed one, he's wondering why two white guys are there in the first place while the keeping the rest of the gang from just running in and killing them. Once the gang finds out what's going, you get inter gang drama about finding the gold for themselves. Trying not to give too much away because there's lots of little twists and turns that make this interesting. This is one of those movies where all the characters are bad and are secretly trying to screw each other over. It has that early 90s gritty atmosphere and the run down setting works well here. It was directed by Walter Hill from The Warriors and written by Bob Gale and Bob Zemeckis from Back to the Future. If you're tired of bland modern movies, check this out.

It's Judgment Night-meets-Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

I also watched Judgement Night recently. Trespass is far superior. The plot is based on Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

Walter Hill is an under appreciated director.

He did this, The Warrior, 48hrs, Brewster’s Millions (Richard Pryor version), etc. as director in addition to being a known troubleshooting writer for studios and a producer.

Unfortunately for him, his output from the late 80s on had some stinkers like Last Man Standing, which was a Prohibition-era remake of Yojimbo / Fistful Of Dollars with Bruce Willis.

Thought you were talking about the Nic Cage movie, so clicked on the link, wondering what bizarre reasons you had for liking that pile of shite.

It was originally called Looters but they changed it after the LA riots.

It’s definitely one of those movies that was considered good but not great when it was made, and its entertainment value has held up well.

I caught it on Tubi myself a few months ago as well. There are many movies from
the 70s-80s-90s which similarly have good stories and solid acting worth revisiting.

Weird, JustWatch says this is only available on AppleTV (not Tubi). But when I searched AppleTV it doesn't show up as a result.

I can't remember if I have Tubi or not.

Ok so I watched this on Tubi. I agree with the thread. It’s pretty good. Had your typical 90s thriller type vibe to it.

I kept thinking the whole time it felt very much like Judgment Night. And after it was over that was the suggested “next movie” to watch.

Definitely would recommend watching it if you like those types of movies. Heads up though: it’s only on Tubi for another 11 days apparently. So you may want to watch it now rather than later.
