Just started it I've already seen a 5 minute overhead tracking shot and hand held action shots…… In a movie shot in 1958! Welles was such a fricking genius.

I don't remember why I was reading about this last week, but really need to watch it. Aside from enjoying noirish films, the theme of corruption along the Texas border is interesting to me for obvious reasons.

Orson Welles is damn near unrecognizable in this movie. I watched it a couple weeks ago after watching Citizen Kane and was shocked at his appearance

My favorite noir movie of all time. I've been to Venice Beach where they shot that opening long tracking shot. It's amazing.

A great percentage of educated Mexicans, especially those who spent a lot of time on the states side, can speak English without an accent. They don't all sound like the guy who washes dishes, or the Latina reporter on the local news who exaggerates her pronunciations to show her Latina pride. In South Texas along the border, there's some kind of third accent that's shared by Gringos and Mexicans. Funny as hell when you hear it from a white person for the first time.

It also makes no sense when the "enlightened" people of today talk about how offensive it is that Heston was cast as a Mexican. Louis CK is Mexican, Canelo Alvarez is Mexican...both fair skinned, red heads. Every Mexican doesn't look like Cheech Marin.
