You and I differ greatly on "rewatchability"
Posted on 3/27/13 at 12:43 pm to DelU249
I'm basing my list off of rewatchability.
Rounders
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
The Patriot
Major League
BTTF
Saving Private Ryan
Indiana Jones The Last Crusade
Dumb & Dumber
Sean Of the Dead
Life
ETA: Augustus reminded me about Sean of the Dead. Completely forgot about it. Gotta kick off Shawshank.

I'm shocked that the last crusade is on here. It's basically diet raiders. Why not just choose raiders?

Because Raiders doesn't have Sean fricking Connery in it.

Aaaaah. Just wondering. Raiders is my favorite and just a classic piece of cinema, but I can watch ToD on a continuous loop and never get bored

Quotable Classics I could prob live with just these 4
Tombstone
Pulp Fiction
Big Lebowski
Goodfellas

Princess Bride
Serenity

Some lists look like people think they will never age.
Impossible to do, tastes change as you get older. What you think at 18-25 is cool will look idiotic years later. I'd junk most of the action/comic book stuff and go with what another poster had...more classics, revolving around dialogue and timeless stories involving the human condition. Those don't get old.
Who the hell is going to watch Superbad when you're 50 years old?
Posted on 3/27/13 at 2:16 pm to Zamoro10
some timeless classics would get old after a million viewings, well any movie would. Like I said, Citizen Kane is one of the 3 best movies ever made, but I couldn't watch it more than once every 6 months.
Posted on 3/27/13 at 2:20 pm to DelU249
Well that's true about Citizen Kane.
I don't know, if it's only a few movies, it would have to be inspiring/uplifting...to not wear its welcome out. No dark movies, movies relying on shock endings, horror is out...
I'm not saying ALL youth oriented films should be out...some are needed to remind you connect you to the past...but contemporary teen/young adult movies don't seem like they'd fit the bill at all.

Are you trying to tell me that I don't like BTTF just as much now as I did when I was a kid?
