Oh and Seinfeld that went out at #1 after 9 seasons and was paid 1.1 billion dollars for the first 5 years of syndication, gets only a #5 seed.

Shenanigans!

The seeding on this whole thing has been whack as crack. 11 people liked AD which was canceled after 3 season rated at #123 for the final season and it gets a #2 seed. I think not.

Not getting into this debate....but alot of people like this show. Maybe people were behind it (me being one of theM) but when I finally saw an episode I felt stupid for being partly responsible it was canceled cause I never watched it. It is my fav. show ever now. It is brilliant. DVD sales have been strong for the show since it's went off the air (so much show they are making an A.D. movie)

so stop using a #. Sometimes people are behind..Fox did a terrible job promoting this show. A.D. is a classic...rather you like it or not..if you don't like it fine...but you seem to live to bad mouth the show and its fans.

You can make all the excuses you want. Seinfeld went out at #1 after 9 years. This whole event is tainted with a #2 seed for AD which went out at #123.

I am not saying it should not be in the group but it is simply absurd to have it at #2 and Seinfeld at #5.

He said the seeding was whack. And it is. Seinfeld and The Simpsons should be seeded 1/2 without questions because of their longevity, ratings, reviews, etc.

I actually enjoy The Office, but The Simpsons > The Office. Check back in a few years and things may have changed. Or if it's the top sitcoms of the last 5 years or so, then that's different also.

You act like Seinfeld isn't my fav. show behind A.D...I LOVE Seinfeld..I love anything Larry David touches.

Seinfeld did go out # 1...You're right..and they deservd it...But the show was almost canceled early also....but NBC decided to stand behind the show and gave it a excellent spot.
A.D. unfortunately didn't have the same backing from Fox (who is very fast about pulling good shows)..

point is..Seinfeld didn't have the audience it did right off the bat...they didn't move it around non-stop....NBC stood behind it. You can't compare the 1st 3 seasons ratings of Seinfeld to it's last season....so it's unfair to take a completely other show and compare its first 3 to the most successful sitcom ever (and it should have been higher than 5)

Simpsons have fallen off so much last few years though I can see why they would be down....if you ask anyone top 5 fav. shows i'm suer Simpsons would rarely be mentioned...Office...yeah it would be mentioned

There is no way a FAILED comedy no matter what reason you CLAIM it failed deserves a #2 seed.

You keep talking about Seinfeld nearly being canceled. It only had 5 episodes its first season. Season 2 had good ratings and season 3 even better. It was only almost canceled in season 1.

The office was almost canceled after season 1 with only six episodes.

What does that have to do with AD BEING canceled after 3 seasons.

AD is not even remotely the better comedy and should not be seeded #2 maybe #12.

So you're basing it on the last 5 years? I read "Top Sitcoms" and The Simpsons has been on the air for 20 years? On the same network you just mentioned.

I'm sure they have over 400 episodes. I don't see how that can be ignored because it's not as funny as it's 1st year or 4th year or 8th year or 11th year or 14 year or 17th year...

I don't have a hatred for AD and I agree with Myth completely. You can't seed a show canceled after 3 seasons higher than shows that easily, easily have earned that recognition.

I have watched all three season. I don't call that hatred. I love how not thinking the show is the greatest of all times somehow becomes hate.

The only fair way to seed this would have been longevity , dvd sales or ratings or some mix of all. In all of those categories Seinfeld would crush AD.

Instead it was seeded by bias.

Discussing the seeding is not hijacking the thread. He has a competition going on and I am pointing out how flawed the seeding is.

Huge Curb fan though. It would have beat anything other than AD or Seinfeld.

Well, the match-ups were random in the first round. The seedings came in round 2 and were based on number of votes that each show recieved in the fist round. That is a very good representation IMO.

Not really because the AD fans on here are highly energized and emotional about the show.

Unless Jersey shows up and rallies the troops around Seinfeld, AD will end up winning.
