Did he in the original series?

Me watching that utter disappointment…

Uh yeah, his grandfather immigrated from Italy.

Jr character was perfect. Always meek, falling down, never a strong voice…just like the series.
Posted on 10/1/21 at 10:50 pm to kciDAtaE
But he was Italian, which was what you responded to and asked.

Cory Stoll isn't going to sing a song from the old country like Dominic Chianese.

You got me. You win. The grandfather of the original actor of JR was Italian. I’m uncertain of the heritage of the new JR.
You right. Movie sucked. Would have been better if the grandmother of the the actor who played Dickie was from Italy

You made a stupid comment with a stupid question. You can own up to it don’t have to get butthurt. It will all work out.

New JR and old JR acted equally “Italian” despite their heritage.
Go watch new JR’s 5 minutes of screen time and tell me he didn’t mimic the mannerisms of old JR. His facial expressions and movements were a copy.

Well, we have our one fan of the movie here to tell us how everyone else in this thread that thinks it's a piece of shite is wrong.

Are you saying the the civil rights moment in the 60’s didn’t have an impact on how Tony viewed the blacks?
If they didn’t touch on the race riots while Tony was growing up, it would have been an huge mistake.
Some touches of it - sure.
Main storyline with a primary and dominating character - get the frick out of here leftist shill POS.

Are you serious?! Racial issues were way worse when this movie was set than today. Imagine a mob guy’s wife sleeping with a black gangster 50 years ago.
You are really a fricking idiot with zero credibility. Not one single black power plot had anything WHATSOEVER to do with The Sopranos. It was just fabricated leftist bullshite.

I liked the show a lot. I didn’t watch it in real time but I think I’ve watched every episode. It’s probably in my top 3-4 shows of all time.
Just watched the movie and I also really enjoyed it.
Plenty of Easter eggs that were enjoyable. I thought the main storyline was good and the ending in the funeral home was a strong one. I have a few critiques but they are mild. The Harold character was given too much screen time for having nothing to do with the show. Most of it is worthwhile but it could have been cut down.
Also I couldn’t for the life of me figure out who was supposed to be teenage Richie or teenage Artie. I mean I could guess based on their personalities but the actors looked too damn similar.

That was the problem. All the "mimicking" by actors who aren't talented enough to pull it off almost made it seem like they were making fun of them. That old MAD TV sopranos skit from back in the day had a hell of a lot better performances than this pile of shite
where's the gaba gool

Spoiler:
(Ending discussed)
It wasn’t “good”, but it wasn’t bad or awful as many are making it out to be. This movie or any prequel was always up against the wall in that it couldn’t ever overcome or deliver to the level of the original series knowing what we know. We knew that Tony was safe and wouldn’t die. No main character we know would die in this. Only Dickie would meet his end. That was clear. Not Silvio, or Paulie, or Pussy, or anyone else from the original series.
This was clearly going to be about Dickie Moltisanti. I wrongly surmised that Tony would somehow ultimately be the one to kill him at the end of this and would further complicate the Tony/Christopher relationship that we knew. But that’s not what happened. It actually turned out to be a surprise to me that it was Junior’s hit.
Does that make this movie good? No. But I didn’t expect that would be the outcome. I was convinced Tony would kill him at the end.
I was hoping for an 8/10 or 9/10 movie.
It wasn't awful but it was still disappointing at 5-6/10 IMHO

Im convinced that the kid who calls Tony a jerk off at the phone booth was originally supposed to be Silvio given his little facial querk, then they found the 40 year old guy and rewrote him as Silvio. I woke up even more disappointed. I'll reiterate, it seems pretty clear that Chase wanted to make a movie about the riots (which is perfectly fine and would probably be very good) but it couldn't get off the ground so he tied the Sopranos to it because he knew that would forsure green light it. Def would have been much better as a series focusing on the younger characters coming into their own and their interaction with Dickie. Also was that supposed to be Pussy Bumpinsero or Pussy Malanga because in the show its suggested that Tony and Pussy definitely came up together and were similarly aged.

The acting was good IMO.
Kid who did Silvio nailed it IMO
Paulie was good but didn’t do much with him
Michael would do a good Tony if they developed the character in a series
The movie itself tried to cram too much in it. Plot never really came together it was disjointed. Also it lacked a lot of the dark humor that Sopranos is known for. It never really developed any of the characters except Dickie.
Needed to be a mini series. I’d have like to seen more after Dickie was killed where Tony joins the crew with Sil and Pussy that really develops those characters into what we know them as.

The one thing that I did like/hate was that Dickie died with the medicine in his pocket for Livia,
Remember in the show when Janous kills Richie she gave Livia 2 sleeping pills and when she tells Tony ma took them he was shocked. So that was a nice tie in to the show
I also liked the raven in the garage when Dickie kills his father. Remember when Chris gets made he feels cursed because of the raven on the windowsill
