I was expecting a 7.5/10. We got like a 5/10 IMO

I've got a pretty good idea why.
I think they really blew a good opportunity with this movie. Should have had more from the characters from the show like Artie, Blundetto, Hesh etc. It was just very disappointing to me.
I saw an interview where Chase said he wanted to make a movie or project solely on the race riots and it got back burnered so he used the Sopranos to weave it in, I guess since he knew that would automatically green light it.
But more venting.
The show suggests that Sil, Puss and Tony came up together. So Sil was in on setting Dickie up. Alot of the prison scenes and Blind kid baseball stuff I sometimes wondered whether or not was just in Dickie's head, but I guess it wasn't. Also, I can't see Paulie taking an order from Jr. to wack Dickie, short of any new content that might arise. I also thought the Christofffa narration was good but I mean we were told stories of Dickie hunting down a New England crew alone, I don't think he'd have a problem with a random street outfit. Not to mention, Nicky Barnes was brought under the wing of Crazy Joe Gallo in prison who taught him how to organize his crew like Italians did and set him up with mafia dope connections (hence, why a guy tied to Nicky Barnes randomly shot Joe Colombo),. IRL atleast. Short of any problems that may have arisen in response to Crazy Joe, I don't see the 5 families having a problem with him because he was absolutely paying a street tax anywhere he would have been operating in NYC at that time, and Carlo Gambino's cousins (Cherry Hill Gambinos) had jersey locked up on the "skag" trade. Idk, it was very well shot but the more I sit on it, the more I begin to dislike it. The acting was basically phenomenal though, not sold on Ray Liotta though.

Couldn’t even tell who was Artie and who was Jackie most of the time. Having different actors to make a 5 year jump in age was also stupid. Outside of Tony all it did was cause more of a mess. There was also no lineage explained between the older crew and the younger guys. Silvio, Jackie and Ralph weren’t in crews when they, as kids, took down the card game with Tony to earn their stripes but now Silvio is already basically made and second in command of Dickies crew? Terrible movie just terrible.

Pretty sure Chris found out his dad was a serious drug user like him during the series as well but in the movie there’s not even a hint of anything like that. Total mess

The one thing that I did like/hate was that Dickie died with the medicine in his pocket for Livia, and Livia of course tried to demonize Dickie at his funeral. Not sure why he didn't just talk to Tony. I get he was a messed up guy with morals (basically Tony in the show) but Tony actually tried to keep Jackie Jr. out of the life and was straight up with him about it.

”Lets be honest about the great Dickie Moltisanti, my father, your hero...He wasn’t much more than a fricking junkie“

There MUST be a sequel or series Showing Harold getting dealt with, preferably by Tony.
And Junior steering all suspicion in that direction.

Tony did make his bones, and the FBI made alot of work, over some dead fricking bookie. But that was Willie Overall. But agree, there has to be more in the works.

I stopped at halfway through and que pootz this is straight shite
It's like a really bad SNL sketch, the guys doing horrific Paulie and Silvio impressions, Ray Liotta blurting out random lines at random volumes and random times, the Soprano-isms that the characters say occasionally to remind you it's supposed to be in the Sopranos universe, Corey Stoll as Junior Soprano? He looks like a fed. It's embarrassing so far. Does the second half get any better?

It was well shot and the "soundtrack is killa" but ehhh it gets better and might provide some context for a sopranos rewatch but I guarantee you Fans are gonna be clamoring at David Chase for more.

I really don’t understand why Harold was even in the movie.
Really?
I’m surprised Harold wasn’t a black female tranny fighting the patriarchy.

I'm still wondering what's up with Silvio comb over? Later in the movie the rug is flipping around after they killed someone. Did he wear a rug the whole time in the Sopranos and they never break balls over it.

Just saw Baby Chrissy cry at seeing Tony.
Little to on the nose with foreshadowing

I just started watching the show l, almost through 2 seasons. It’s gonna take a lot of discipline for me to wait until I finish the series to watch the movie.

Now I just saw the Silvio hairpiece scene. Landed like a pile of bricks.
If u do that it has to be a quick cut from the hairpiece falling off to the next scene.
Putting a spotlight on it with the 10 second pause while Silvio fixed his hair is horrible.

I am convinced that Silvio has real hair in the show
but when I watched the series " I was so high on skag I wouldn't know if he had my mudder's muff on his head." Yeh as time goes on, I am increasingly more and more disappointed. I think there is gonna be alot of bad reviews.
