My wife has this thing about refusing to watch black and white movies and thus had never seen the movie. I always make sure to catch it at least once during the Christmas season. Was watching it last night and she walked in right at the part where George gets home after finding out the 8K is missing and starts losing his shite on his family. My wife sees this and says “ Damn that guy is a complete a-hole.”

Well I put my foot down and insisted she watch the movie from the beginning. Just couldn’t have her thinking that the most selfless, giving, and caring man in movie history was an a-hole.

Well why didn’t you just show her the color version?

Watched that one the other nights. Cuts 30min off. He saves Clarence at the bridge, talks a bit in the op house, then goes straight to the part where he yells Mary on the bridge and ends up at his house. No Pottersville, no Nick’s, no library Mary, no Bert interaction and realization of lip and zuzu’s petals on the bridge. Pure travesty.

First time ever sitting down and watching today on Amazon prime and I’m glad we didn’t watch that version. The one we saw had all of that

Donna Reed was hot

Whether or not she was hot or not is isn't the point.

Her character in this movie is in effect the embodiment of what every well-adjusted man should go to sleep praying he finds and holds onto in his life. She's supportive, faithful, loves him with all her heart, helps him when he needs it without holding it over his head and is a great mom to his children.

Its a litmus test. If you watch it and don't come away half in love with her regardless of what you think of her looks you probably need to do some serious self-reflection.

So if Sam Wainright gives George up to $25000 at the end of the movie, what did they do with all the money collected?

Really, the telegram said his office was instructed to wire up to $25000. So there is some inference that they could have indicated in response for them to send only what was needed - Just sayin.

Well you see, I have this thing about watching colorized versions of old B & W movies. frick Ted Turner.

Just kidding…somewhat. I’m actually not a big fan of colorized movies but obviously can still watch and enjoy them if the movie are good. Wife however is still a no go. To he honest, it’s a chore getting her to watch anything made prior to 80’s. About as bad as my kids refusing to watch anything made prior to

The B&W version is definitely better. But in 2007 they colorized it for Paramount. They actually did a really good job and it looks much more natural than some coloration. Amazon got a hold of that one and it’s the one on their site. We watch the colorized version early every season. And then Christmas Eve or Christmas Day we watch the B&w.
