Times Hank was on to Walt….

Hank was no idiot. He’d never (with info he had) come out and target Walt, but let’s think about the times he may have had a slight inkling and Walt thru him off the trail….
Master Chemist, WW. Walter White????
Showing up at the school. He was investigating but sorta squared up Walt a couple times.
Bringing him to Los Pollos. This is where the series lost me. Hank should’ve known. The wreck sealed the deal.
Let’s play it as Hank knew the whole time (after visiting the school and checking inventory). What was his end game? Playing Walt until he got in over his head? Somewhat protecting him with his own interest to find the real player.
Think that was the game all along until the Gus trail. Then had blindfolds.
Hank knew all along but doubted Walt’s abilities. Overplayed his hand.

At the beginning of the series Hank thinks Walt is a total weenie. No balls. No oomph. This is a guy who always thinks he has things and people figured out. He would never let it come to mind it could be Walt because Walt is a nobody.
The scenes you reference were really the series creating dramatic tension, but only cause we knew about his double life. If your friend who never really did anything pulled out a hundred dollar bill and you joked he was a drug dealer -that’s how Hank sees it. Theres no chance it’s Walt.
Each of these moments, like the wreck, slowly pulls at hanks understanding of Walt, adding to the chance he could see Walt differently. Until the inevitable when it finally comes crashing down.

Hank never knew at all. Never even suspected. Walt was completely, 100%, never on his radar as the culprit. That's one of the defining plot points of the entire show and is crucial to why and how everything happened. When Hank figured it all out in the bathroom, he was absolutely, entirely shocked. There is no other interpretation that makes any sense based on what we know of the show and these characters.
