So I signed up for Netflix instant the other day and decide to start from episode 1, season 1. I've gotten through the first five and I have to say it's a lot better than I thought, Duchovney is great

One of the greatest TV shows of all time, easily. It influenced so many shows of today (LOST, Fringe, The Event, etc).

I would recommend that you watch all of season 1 and season 2, then skip around to the "mythology" episodes. I'm sure you could find a comprehensive list of those eps somewhere.

The series kinda went off the tracks after Duchovny left as a series regular (season 6, I think), but it was still better than most.

i forget if the movie was after 2 or 3, but once they made the movie the series went down a lot

It was season 5. IMO you're probably better off stopping after season 5 and the movie. It just wasn't the same after that.

I'm averaging about two episodes a night, so it's going to take me a while to get through.

The nostalgia of the clothing styles and early 90's cars is awesome. Not to mention Scully always did it for me, even with that bad hairdo.
