The Kingdom is left leaderless after the King & Queen are traumatized by the loss of Henry.
The leadership position at the Hilltop is considered cursed. The last 4 leaders are dead. No one takes the reigns, and it begins to drift into anarchy.
The Alexandria council openly revolts against Michonne.
The Whispersers take advantage of the situation. Only one man can restore order and safety to the communities. The Alexandria council orders the release of Negan.
I don’t care who dies as long as Negan is doing a lot of killing.

I never cared much for the Negan character, but his return to prominence would be welcome given how boring the current crop of characters are.

I just caught up on this season. They need to release Negan and let him take care of the big MF with the Whisperers. Daryl couldn't take him out. Negan can. Sometimes it takes a big MF to take out another big MF.
