Great movie! I started it yesterday based on this post (bumped post that I missed the first go round) and finished it just now. Excellent. One of the best horror films I can remember in a very long time. Talk about keep you guessing. I do need to watch that explanation video because I have some questions.

Watched this today and loved it. It’s fricking legit great IMO.
There were some things I didn’t like that have been mentioned (like the cops acting like scared, inept children; or the shaman performing the exorcism thing but then he ends up being in on it with the demon) but this movie does a really good job of setting up shite and the payoff in the last 20 minutes or so is fantastic. I was guessing until the very end.
Another thing that did confuse me was the woman in white telling the dad that this happened because he falsely accused someone. That doesn’t make much sense to me. Initially she says it’s because he sinned, so I thought it would be because he cheated on his wife and fricked that neighbor chick in his car where his daughter saw. I believe she also says that he falsely accused someone and killed them, but assuming she means the Jap, he isn’t dead (and she tells him that). So none of that made much sense to me.
I may watch that video that was posted earlier in the thread but not sure I want to dedicate 25 minutes to it.
But all in all I really liked this one. It’s a great buildup and the payoff is great. The scene in the cave where the demon (or actual satan?) reveals himself is exceptionally well-done.
I know this thread is old, so for those interested I watched it for free on Prime.

Question: so was the Jap a demon or actually Satan?

Demon, but having the Christian see the real form does kind of create a juxtaposition of the concepts. East Asian mythos does not have a Satan but clearly the priest would see it that way (while understanding the Korean spiritual corollary)

Best part was when ol' baw was railing the chick in the car then had to buy his daughter all the toys to bribe her after she caught him.

By the way, I watched this clip and it didn't really help me much at all. It doesn't really explain anything that isn't easy to pick up while watching.
The only thing I took away from the whole 25 minutes was the little plant hanging at the beginning of the movie (sage maybe?), showing that the woman in white had tried her trap to protect people before (the family we first see killed).
But outside of that, it just basically explains the movie directly in a way that you should already have grasped. Also, this ending wasn't really confusing or anything (at least IMO).
