I’m curious, what are some of your favorite books?

Well, the book was crap, so there’s that.

Yes. Read "Swan Song" by Robert McCammon. Blows "The Stand" out of the water as far as post apocalyptic tales go.

Almost anything by Cormac McCarthy or Larry McMurtry. Jurassic Park. Pillars of the Earth series by Ken Follett. I actually loved King’s 11/22/63 book about JFK. Tom Clancy’s Without remorse (movie was bad) and Red October. I mostly read non-fiction /history and some historic fiction these days. I’ll go back to the classics of Hemingway, Steinbeck, etc… here and there. The original I Am Legend book by Matheson is fun if you like post-apocalyptic. As much as I hated the ending of The Stand, I enjoyed the beginning storytelling King did with the first half of the book.

I’m going to read Swan Song as recommended above as it has peaked my interest. Thanks!

The Stand and IT are both still waiting for an actual, proper book to screen treatment

IT will never get that because of that scene.

Like most King books the ending is pretty much a wet fart but the character building is sublime

This. All that build up for such a dud of an ending. Classic King

Loved the book except for this very thing. The book is titled, “The Stand”. I’m expecting an epic battle between good vs evil at the end and all we get is an accidental nuke going off. Such a let down. Otherwise a great book.
