by none other than Roland Emmerich

So today I was talking about the Singularity to someone, and get interested to see if anyone is planning to make a film about it. The Singularity is one of the greatest concepts for a film that there is, since it has the concept to truly change humanities concept of immortality and would greatly change religion in general. Then to my wondering eyes would appear, but Roland Emmerich, probably the biggest hack currently directing, is directing this great concept. This should be a film like Inception that should be planned out years in advance until you know you've taken the concept as far as it can be taken. Roland is just going to whip this script out in one draft and just skim over a few articles on what the posibilities of the Singularity are. Hopefully after this abortion of a film, a good director will come in and actually take the concept and make a masterpiece out of it.

You'd prefer Michael Bay do it?

Have you seen The Transcendent Man on Instant Netflix? If you are interested in the singularity you really should watch it if you haven't.

that's disappointing. should give Shane Carruth $20-30 million (which is pretty low for this concept) and he'd put out something awesome, guaranteed.

Certainly. At least Michael Bay actually tries to make his action authentic. Bay just sees the CGI robots as a necessary evil for the explosions. Roland just sits on a computer all day and just thinks of landmarks (particullarly in the US) to destroy. He has the exact same characters in every single one of his films to where they are really almost impossible to tell apart (aside from 10,000 BC and The Patriot).

All of McG's films are better than any of Emmerich's, and Emmerich's ego is as large as James Cameron's. And while Cameron kinda does have the right to have that big of an ego by making the 2 highest grossing films of all time and two of the best sequels of all time, Emmerich doesn't since he's only made shite. His only desputably ok films are Independence Day and The Patriot.

wow, you really need to check out McG's directorial works. There isn't even an argument. Independence Day and The Patriot are WAY better than anything he has directed.

Yeah, he probably wouldn't need that much to make a better film than emmerich.

Emmerich made Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow, and 10,000 BC, which is probably the dumbest film I've ever seen. Charlie Angels isn't unbearable, We are Marshall is harmless, and yes he did make Terminator Salvation, which was terrible, but its really the only film of his that has pissed me off. And Roland's film thats about to be released is about Shakespeare. Roland Emmerich making a film about Shakespeare is like me designing a nuclear missle.

Doubt he'd need 75 grand to make a better film than Emmerich.

Creepy. Just watched "Transcendent Man." Our brains must already be linked via TD. Chicken is in on The Singularity.

ETA: Shame on this thread for getting into a piss fight about McG and Emmerich. The Singularity deserves better. I hope robots probe all of you without your permission.

Indeed it does. Like if someone like Nolan or Del Toro were behind it, it could be just masterful. Where you can take the concept is just about endless.

After finishing the documentary, I had like 15 sci-fi novel concepts in mind, except I don't know shite about technology. Off to study.
