Why does he want her impregnated?
Does he know what the hell is going on with the aliens? Does he know she will carry the unborn alien baby?
yeah this little part is questionable. once she cuts it out and shows up it's like, "oh, you're here? cool"

I liked the movie a lot BUT... I liked it just like I liked Star Trek. Both movies had a zillion plot holes if you want to look for them. I tried to look the other way for both films.
The dumbest thing for me was the continuing removal of the helmets. Any science nerd would know that even the simplest bacteria on another planet would be deadly to earthlings.
Hey look at the black goop leaking all over the place. I wonder if that might be toxic.
I won't pick the movie to death, but I probably could.

For those who were disappointed, here's an interview that explains it.
LINK
It's an interview with Damon Lindelof. I haven't finished reading it but here's something that both caught my eye and chapped my caboose:

quote:
A couple hours later, a guy showed up at my house, handed me a script and said, "Enjoy. I'll be waiting in my car. When you're done, you can give this back to me." I read the script—it was written by John Spates—and I thought it was great, but it was definitely a dyed-in-the-wool Alien prequel in the sense that there was a direct and clear connectivity between the movies. It relied pretty heavily on the face hugging and chest bursting and acid-for-blood xenomorphs that we'd seen in the other movies. All that was wrapped around this incredibly original and cool sci-fi idea about scientists thinking that they had a bead on what mankind's origins on the planet might be. So I wrote an email that night saying, "I think that that idea is strong enough to carry the movie. We can get to some of that Alien stuff that the audience is definitely going to want to see, but you did that 30 years ago and it's been done many times since. And it would be great to not rely upon it so heavily and here's how you might do that..." And for some crazy reason they hired me, and that was the next year of my life. It needs to be. There are so many gaping plot holes, pointless characters, obvious tacked on scenes, piss poor writing, unanswered wtf questions. Very disappointing flick.

Here's why questions are unanswered, from the interview I posted above:

Some of these questions we wanted to answer directly and some of these questions we didn't want to answer directly, which sets you up for a certain level of frustration and disappointment that I am well familiar with, but I'll take it any day of the week because I also feel like it forces you to fire your own imagination. I'm not disappointed that it wasn't tied closely to Alien.
I was disappointed because it was a bad movie.

There's nothing wrong with questions.
But not 2 hours and 15 minutes of them.

From the wiki page
You failed there Damon.
quote:
In June 2012, Lindelof stated that while plot elements were deliberately left unresolved so that they could be answered in a sequel, he and Scott thoroughly discussed what should be resolved so that Prometheus could stand alone, as a sequel was not guaranteed.[190]

I may write this a-hole a letter and give him a big frick you for ruining what should have been a great movie.

It wasn't in the same league as "Alien", but it wasn't as terrible as you make it out to be. I think Leauxgan summed it up nicely a few days ago. It's a decent action/science fiction movie.
I actually can think of answers to most of your questions, but I'm too lazy to address all of them.
I'm not sure many people really saw TGWTDT when she was wandering around with bloodstains until she got back to wash up.
To address Fassbender. First, he got so much arse in "Shame" that he's still a little woozy and not acting rationally. Second, most of his actions were to serve three purposes: Guy Pearce's wishes, own desire to be independent and, finally, his curiosity about humans.
And it's not a planet. It's a moon. In fact, I suggest it is the very moon visited by the Nostromo in "Alien".
Sorry, I've got more but I want to catch "The Killing">

lso, this planet is just that - a planet - similar in size to earth. How did they just happen to stumble upon the alien facility?
That's pretty good navigating.
It's a 2 hour movie. Did you want them to explore for weeks ?

I just saw it for the 2nd time, what is the green crystal looking thing under the mural of the queen in the face tomb, Holloway says "This is just another tomb." Didn't remember this part, and haven't seen it talked about.

I thought it was the same too but as others have pointed out in this thread already, the moon from Alien was LV-426 while the moon in Prometheus is LV-223.
LINK This was already linked in the thread but for those who missed it, it is worth a look.

If all questions were answered, would we be having a 10 page discussion/debate? I love when movie/stories create this fervor and have the audience actively engaged for days after seeing the film.
Posted on 6/10/12 at 8:10 pm to TomyDingo
When answers are straightforward, it makes for boring storytelling. I like having mystery attached to it. It's intriguing.

flvelo12, you've made your point. We get it. I would love for you to offer some constructive critism to keep the haters & fans engaged. Your rehashed statements come off as lazy and unintelligent, you can do better.
