I was around the same age, but my parents were obsessed with it, so I picked up on most of it. My dad grew up with attorneys in the family, so I think that's where a lot of his interest was rooted.

The Kardashian thing is funny because he was never known as a lawyer of note before OJ, did very little lawyering of substance during the trial, yet from then on was thought of as some power lawyer because of the OJ trial

Bob was the loyal friend who reactivated his lapsed law license for privilege reasons and sat by OJ during the trial. He was there for moral support. I'm not aware he was ever thought of as a real lawyer during the trial or after.

ETA: Dershowitz seemed awfully familiar, but I couldn't place the actor. It was Evan Handler, AKA Charlie Runkel, the masturbating agent. I thought he did a good job.

This episode highlighted two major mistakes made the prosecution team. The first one was a change of venue because they thought that an all white jury convicting O.J. would cause more riots in Los Angelas. Thus the change of venue made it more likely African Americans would be on the jury which is exactly what Johnny Cochran wanted. Also they decided not to call their star witness (the lady who had seen O.J. that night driving recklessly from the murder scene) because she had gotten paid to be interviewed on t.v and they thought that would tarnish her testimony. The prosecutors built their whole case on the DNA evidence which the defense effectively took out with Mark Furhman taking the 5th when he was asked if he had planted blood at O.J.'s house.

Good episode overall. Travolta is still the best part of this show. Ross still sucks.

Schwimmer is just not that good, while Travolta is absolutely perfect.

The other funny one is F Lee Bailey, the quintessential alpha attorney played by Nathan Lane, who looks and sounds like he is going to break out in Broadway tunes at any moment. His lines were limited so I'll reserve judgment.

this show is entertaining in two ways.

1. getting to relive the case and see the inner workings of it.
2. watching these actors play these clowns in this circus of a trial. Courtney B Vance is dropping bombs playing Cochran. he is great.

on the Kardashians. My sister was born in 1993 and was not familar with any of this. but Kim, Klohe and others have made it appointment TV for her.

Get over it people. It is another angle to this circus of a story.

Rob, jr just said Bruce is famous, he won the olympics. why arent you famous (to his dad). it basically just sparked the fame vs family speech aka the "frick you kardashians" speech.

I'm getting pretty tired of the way Rob says "Juice" every other word. We get it, he's your friend.

I get that but that's what people called him back then. It's like us saying Buga instead of Leonard Fornette everyone we talk about LF7

I think it's more of the way he says it. It's like a whisper. Idk, just a random thing I'm starting to pay attention to and that pisses me off haha.

Yep. And although they stated otherwise at the end of the episode, they thought the case was a slam dunk conviction. They trusted the evidence too much and underestimated what a team of great defense lawyers could do their seemingly air tight case. That goes to evidence gathering, too. Incredibly, the autopsies were entrusted to an underling medical examiner, who botched them jeopardizing some of the most basic evidence.

davewagner.com is an excellent resource database for all things OJ trial. There was more to witness Jill Shively than just the paid TV interview. It was entirely Marcia Clark, who basically called her a liar in front of the grand jury. Clark should have realized that the defense team would attack the physical evidence, making any eye witness testimony that much more crucial. Without Shively, they were left with just the limo driver, whose testimony held up remarkably well but could only place OJ somewhere other than his house, and a few ear witnesses.

I don't know how accurate it was, but I was fascinated watching the defense team collaborate in Ep. 3.

I'm beginning to think that this show is not that accurate. I think there was a lot of dramatic license taken. That part was interesting, particularly with Dershowitz. He was putting it out there and pointing out the errors of their ways and he was right. The rest of the show was pretty boring.

All that Kardashian stuff is annoying but it was worth it for that speech.

Barry scheck took out the DNA evidence and remarkably well..
The DNA evidence was flimsy, shady and miniscule at best... Barry was the best lawyer on that team...and now uses DNA to exonerate felons...he knew what he was talking about.
