Every rewatch I do confirms that I have no problem saying that Vegeta is absolutely one of my favorite TV characters of all time.

He has one of the best story archs ever from showing up with Nappa as a cocky arrogant prince to kill everyone, to an unlikely and shakey alliance against Freiza, and his awesome speech right before Frieza kills him, to an antihero in the cell saga, and eventual almost humble family man and earth protector. And it was done so well.

Piccolo is a very close second favorite from the show tied with Gohan. I never understood why they didn't let him scale his powers with the Sayains. He was the only character that they had a solid way to make him as powerful as a Sayain, with his fusing, especially with Kami. I always hoped that would've been the key to keeping at least one nonenemy character on pace with the Sayain. But he never got the ability to be as badass as he could've been.

In the Raditz saga it still feels like regular dragonball where the people are strong, but it's not over the top ridiculous power you see in DBZ.

this is definitely true.

Raditz at one point says Piccolo's power level is 1440 and if it hits (which it does) it will kill both of them. And before that his power level was right at 900 and it barely phased Raditz.

Wasn't Frieza's power level over a million before the scanners all broke and before Super Sayains?

second biggest crime of the entire series after the abomination of Gohan after cell. Idk why they decided the entire series would only involve saiyans when it could have been way more interesting. nearly all successful animes involve multiple characters at similar levels dueling it out. its boring when its the same 2 or 3.

Especially considering all of the dedicated screen time Kami and Piccolo get and how deep their story is. Kami is basically god of earth and king piccolo was the devil. Two halves of the same whole. When they fused back together they should've been awesome and almost unstoppable.

There were other Sayain fighters out there. Why not other Namekian fighters? Couldn't Piccolo gave trained or found some badass Namekians and fused with them.

That always annoyed the shite out of me.

That was Frieza going into his second form This was pretty much the point where power lvls were thrown out the window. Vegeta being able to destroy planets at his low power lvl while heading to earth is probably another thing they want people to forget.

Definitely could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Goku hits 180K in his fight against Ginyu. Apparently going SS makes a person 50x stronger putting Goku in the millions.

I always kind of liked the measurements of power levels and watching people shudder. Kind of wish it never got so outrageous.

Power levels are kind of bullshite.

I mean Piccolo was the first hero to reach 1 million...but he didn't stand a chance against Nappa just what 3 months before. Fusing with Nail and training with Kai should give him a bump...but my goodness. But really, Nail's power level was only 40,000 and Piccolo's couldn't have been much more.

Vegeta's power level goes from like 30,000 vs Zarbon to 40,000 vs Recoom to 250,000 after he eats the last Sensu Bean.

Those ridiculous jumps in the Frieza saga were kind of insane.

I definitely agree, but you have to remember that Vegeta got his arse whipped a few times in that saga and a saiyan recovering after battle makes them stronger. Now that big of a jump? Ehhhh lol

Frieza final form 100% supposedly has a power level of 120 million. Goku Super Saiyan Frieza saga is supposed to be like 150 million. Consider that Vegeta during the saiyan saga was already able to destroy a planet at like 25,000 then Frieza and Goku should already be able to destroy a planet with a strong sneeze. And then in the later sagas power levels increase by orders of magnitude.

Gohan is suddenly 1000 times stronger than he was just a year and a half ago against Raditz. Krillin is stronger than the strongest saiyans were just a few years before. It's all pretty silly.

Power levels make so little sense. Toriyama should have never introduced them in the first place.

At least they stopped after Namek. Imagine how ridiculous the numbers would've been later on during the Cell and Buu stuff.

I'm re-watching the series right now and I just couldn't get used to the japanese dub. I think DBZ is one of the very few anime's where the english dub is superior.

Gogeta isn't canon though.
Damn I REALLY need to catch up on Super. The last episode I watched was when the fat God of Destruction first showed up.

You really do. It's still kind of silly through the 3rd arc(w/beerus' fat brother), but still maintains the fun.

However the show is really starting to hit its stride in the 4th arc. The last episode was friggin awesome, and Saturday night can't come fast enough. I want to drop a hint so it makes you want to watch, but don't want to spoil it for you.

Fair warning, there are a lot of filler episodes between where you are and now, but far less than there were in DBZ.

Are you talking about Future Trunks coming back and the evil Goku from his timeline?
