....damn watered down. It's the snowflake version. Makes me gag.
Although my 2 young grandkids liked it. For anyone who is a fan of the original animated version or Jim Carrey's version...both solid in their own right, this one is the Diet Coke of Grinches.

Your two grandchildren enjoyed a movie made for children? How snowflakey.

It was basically Despicable Me with a christmas coat of paint on it. Took the kids and they enjoyed it. The one with Carrey freaks my younger one out.

It was terrible in general but the narrator was especially awful, every time he spoke I cringed. Quite the difference from Anthony Hopkins narrating the Jim Carrey version.

I saw a commercial for something (I think IHOP) and the Grinch was on a smart phone. Gave it a big old "nope" when I saw that.

To me The Grinch will always be the 1966 cartoon. It’s not a story that needs extending. It’s a short story not a novel.

And the character Grinch should be menacing and grumpy and a true spiteful being. Both the Jim Carrey version and presumably this new one paint too much silliness for you to really believe he carries a shriveled heart.

I thought it was really sweet. Wasn't too long. My daughter loved it, and it touched on some meaningful themes. I don't know what you guys were expecting.

ETA: dude up there wanting the Grinch to be a hateful, spiteful creature: He was, and then his heart grew

I didn't think it was all that bad, but watered down is a good term. The Grinch was a much more sympathetic character, more pitiful than menacing.

There were some good visuals and funny gags, but it was a mostly forgettable movie.

Hopefully ABC or whoever continues to show the real Grinch each year.

it's been hard to find in recent years. We bought it so we wouldn't have to deal with searching for it anymore.

This is a very fair assessment. I won't say they miscast the actor for the Grinch's voice, as Cumberbatch is capable of providing a solid Grinch voice, but they should've had him put a little more edge to it.

This word is more of a filler word for people on this board than "um" is for most people

Took the entire fam and we enjoyed it.

The message at the end is to be kind and love, we teach our kids that all the time.

The one thing about it that was annoying was the forced hip-hop version of the grinch song, and all the rap music throughout really. The one good rap song they decided to use (Christmas in Hollis) they only used the instrumental intro.

Other than that it was a decent kids movie. The goat was and Fred was cool.
