I watch old episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond, and before it comes on, this show The Middle comes on & it looks horrible. Just from the few minutes I've watched it while waiting for ELR, its unbearable. Does anyone like this show, I've never heard anyone discuss it?

It's a solid middle class trash sitcom. Not as good as Malcom in the Middle, but not bad at what it does. If you found it unbearable you probably watched the few minutes of every episode where the mom does something terrible. In general she's a horrible parent/person that thinks she's great.

Enjoyable show. Nothing I go out of my way to watch. But not bad filler to have on tv and grab a few laughs.

They are just the stereotypical "if it can go wrong and go worse case scenario then it does" family.

The kids are annoying as hell. The mom isn't much better. Janitor is cool.

I don't record it but I enjoy it when it's on.

Also not sure how someone could actively watch ELR and say the middle is unbearable. They're both pretty standard run of the mill sitcoms.

You got half of it right. She literally says she's a bad mother/parent about a hundred times.

The kids and Mike make the show, but it can be hit or miss. Lots of long running jokes that you might not catch onto if you haven't been watching for awhile.

I don't find it very believable that none of the teacher's can ever remember having Sue in class

We watch it. It has some weak story lines since the two older kids went to college, but the younger days and stories away from college are decent sitcom fare.

Patricia Heaton must have a pile of money as big as a house. She has been a principal character on three network sitcoms totaling almost 20 years.

Raymond (1996 to 2005), Back to You (2007-08) and The Middle (2009–present.

Sue is funny. The youngest kid reminds me of Dewey from MitM

I've watched it since the beginning. I'd argue that it's sometimes the best show on ABC's Wednesday night line-up. It's stayed consistently good and is being rewarded with an 8th season next year.

My wife and I watch it all the time, and we like it. The show doesn't take itself too seriously and is a bit like Seinfeld in that it doesn't have any of those preachy "teaching" moments.

Patricia Heaton's character is far and away the most unlikeable on the show. She's a lazy, forgetful, terrible, yelly middle American who gets her parenting/life cues from the likes of Oprah, Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz and People magazine.

Mike is the man, and makes me legit laugh out loud at least once or twice an episode.

I used to think the kid who plays Axl was a terrible actor, but he's grown on me a bit. Eden Sher is fantastic.

My wife likes it, so I've seen a few episodes.IIt's not terrible.

Patricia Heaton is less of a miserable bitch than she was as Deb Barrone, the Janitor from scrubs is pretty solid, and the kids are funny here and there.

It's not much more than background noise, but it's ok

Seasons 1-4 were good. It's really fallen off recently. Brick was a lot funnier when he was younger. Sue was better then too.
