What's the deal with the Hammer Clan? And who killed them? Is the face cutting like some kind of cult ritual thing?
Ellie/Jackson severely underestimated the size of the Seattle group. They were going to send 16 people. Can't wait to see these 2 take on an army.
Ellie and Dina will 100% hook up at some point. " I wasn't THAT high".

A few episodes in to S2 and it seems like this is one of the most hit or miss shows I've ever watched. One episode you think it's one of the best things you've seen in a while and then the next three episodes are a chore to get through.
Overall just a very forgettable episode. And no I'm not expecting every episode to be the pilot or last weeks level, but the season 2 premiere and now this one were pretty boring. Which is honestly more par for the course than surprising.
It's early in the season and I know it's already a broken record for me but my god it's impossible to root for Ellie. She sucks. She is just an awful person and character. Literally zero redeeming qualities.
Everyone has to walk around on eggshells around her for fear of getting chewed out for no reason (and no one seems to care when she does cuss them out). At the town meeting they are like "We all are upset about Joel and feel for Ellie." Why would they feel for Ellie? It's not like he was her dad, she only knew him for a few years and it appears she was a bitch to him for most of the time. Omg poor Ellie!
And the writers on the after show are pretty comical. The way they talk it's like this show is changing the way people watch television. Like dude, get over yourself. And the camera lady that was like "filming that scene with Ellie I just couldn't stop crying" and she starts to fake cry

Her being a bitch to him seems to be something that just happened towards the end of the 5 year time skip since he is just now dealing with it. If it had been going on for 5 years i doubt people would still be bringing it up like they were in episode 1 and 2 and even 3 with the therapist

+1 I don't understand what Mazin and Druckmann are doing with this Ellie. She is awful. It boggles the mind.

I don’t know how likable they are trying to make her be as of right now, based on listening to the podcast. Take her town hall speech, they said they wanted her speech to be hokey and kind of bad. Not bad to the point that everyone could see through but bad to the point that someone like the psycho therapist would see that it was lie after lie to get what she wanted.
She’s a lying manipulator who makes dumb and brash decisions. Had Dina not show up, she would have left for Seattle by herself with basically just a horse and a gun, because she does dumb crap like that.
Probably better executed with a better actress. I don’t care that she is ugly, she’s just not a good enough actress.

Every time Gail calls herself a Psycho-therapist i get Tobias Funke vibes

This show is about to crash hard

I think they were just using them to show there are other splinter groups out there. The Wolves got them and they were used to show what they can and will do to people.

quote:just got caught up on series. Agreed the last episode was a tough act to follow but man was this episode uneventful. Loved how Corinthians spent dozens of posts in the ep 2 thread saying Joel was still going to be in every episode this season to help carry the story forward after he died yet the very first one since he was killed off and he wasn’t in the episode at all.
I mean it was going to be hard to follow up the previous given the content.
Alright episode. I’m glad they didn’t spend multiple episodes of them traveling to Seattle. But man, did their dumbasses bite off more than they can chew.
Good call
Hope the rest of the episodes don’t drag like this one without him there to carry it anymore

quote:same! That’s supposed to be a big secret that no one knows and was the first thought I had when they revealed she had been in the hospital for 3 months. She’s in the hospital and it one person caring for her noticed that? I did see she had a tattoo on her arm where her bite mark so I guess they expect us to believe that’s how it went unnoticed but she also had a bite in episode 1 on her stomach too so apparently that one went unnoticed too
I do have a question abour her hospital stay. She was there for 3 months but none of the doctors noticed the infected bites on her body?
What
She definitely should’ve had some explaining to do about her immunity to someone after that stay

Had no idea what that was about either having not played the game. Have not heard of that group mentioned once before in the show so I guess their backstory will come in a later episode. Would be a weird thing to have included otherwise for no reason if not.
quote:yeah they should be fricked and have to turn around but I imagine a horde of Cordyceps will take them all out for them and then conveniently it’ll just be Ellie and Dina left alive vs Abby and her posse.

Sure the gamers crew will come in to set me straight though

They showed her cutting the bite mark she got in the first episode of this season in the mirror to make it not look like a bite mark in that episode.

The current reporting says Pascal appears in 4 episodes this season.

The trailers show flashbacks with Ellie and that Eugene character they keep talking about

For some reason, HBO did not release ratings for this episode like they did with the first two. I wonder if there was a massive drop off with no Pedro and they're afraid to show the numbers.

that must be subject to change because before episode 3 released IMDB had Pedro listed in casting in it as well and now he's removed.

He was listed in the opening credits sequence of episode 3, unless I am misremembering. I remember finding it curious.

maybe he actually played the corpse that tommy was washing off lol

Do you remember when Leia hugged Rey after Hans death instead of Chewie? Because modern writers are fing retards.

Or because the town understands that Joel and Ellie were functionally father and daughter.
I think this has been the least successful aspect of the show, and a major reason that the s1 finale didn't really work for me, but they're not going to have all the characters suddenly forget that they were "family."
