I can honestly say that no computer game has ever gotten me quite to worked up
There were some CoD scenes I didn’t love.
Other than failing a lot at Mario Bros in the 80s the only other game I remember getting me really worked up was Final Fantasy. When you learned that the first boss you fought and lived was the final boss after months of gameplay I just about lost my mind.

So I’m replaying part 1.
There’s a newspaper at the start in the background.
There were already attacks happening prior to the start of the game.
Multiple crops were already ide tidied as being at issue as having something wrong with them. They mention increasing the recall drastically. Which means there was already a recall out on infected crops.
And we know South A Erica and Mexico were at least originated for some of these crops

Upon a rewatch, a couple of things that aren't really criticisms as much as they are observations that are concerning for the rest of the show.
First of all, I don't know if Bella Ramsey will be able to carry this role. Can't really explain why I feel this way other than the way she comes across seems, wrong. Like, she seems a little bit too, Lady Mormont, and not enough naive pre teen girl at this point in the story. But, it's early and she's not awful. Maybe this gets fleshed out in some flashback episodes.
Secondly, Joel is portrayed as a bit of a loose cannon who takes orders from Tess. Like she's the brains and he's strictly her muscle. This is different from the game. In the game they are partners who are equally methodical and dangerous. Here, she's in charge. She's even the big spoon (Like WHAT THE frick???).
We want Joel to be a badass, obviously, but the final scene where he snaps and beats the FEDRA officer to death after a flashback is not in his character. Rather than taking out the officer after exhausting other options and waiting for an opportunity to strike, he just loses his cool.
In the game, Joel and Tess kill the officers because they have no choice. It's not an emotional decision.
But the scene still works, result is the same, story is advanced. Maybe Joel becomes more methodical after Tess is killed, out of necessity.
Finally, I think the decision to not have spores is going to eliminate a lot of the tension that you have in the game eventually. But it could be fine, we'll see.
That's really it, not criticisms(apart from Tess being the big spoon, seriously WHAT THE frick?)
, just minor observations that bug me a little.
Episode 1 is great all around and I'm excited for tomorrow night.
