I was talking with grownups, so I thought I would add some depth to my contribution.
If I wanted to talk with you about the movie, I would have mentioned the part about putting the commandments on the pizza box.

Y'all don't think Garner's character is a pretty accurate representation of what human courtship would be like if there was zero ability to inhibit our true feelings?
no
marrying someone solely for their genetics and potential children?
everyone knows that stripped down to their core for women it is:
1) money
2) looks/genetics
3) money
all that silly bitch kept talking about was genetics

This movie is simply not good. Excellent idea, horrible execution. The constant full disclosure of all thoughts was the dumbest thing ever. This was also clearly a movie that would have done better had it not tried to deliver a message.

Even though it is a complete fantasy, the religion part that parallels Christianity is uncomfortable for some and thus it loses entertainment value for mass audiences.
Because otherwise, in that world of fantasy where no untruths exist, it would be exactly that: a huge issue that would draw the world's attention. I mean, the afterlife/spirituality draws the world's attention in actual reality as 95% of the world believes in some sort of deity, so why would it not in this fantasy?
But for storytelling, the satire distracts. I think had he said that the Big Man in the Sky will give you 72 virgins in the afterlife if you are good, or that the Big Man in the Sky wants you to baptize the dead, it would have appeared as benign satire of generally considered ludicrous beliefs. Gervais would be able stay true to the fantasy, and viewers would still get a laugh without the uncomfortableness.
Although any Muslim or Mormon posters here would have thought he was just trashing religion.
