1984 is the greatest poppy year of the American 20th century:
No wars, no oil shortage, no rescission/depression...just pure pop-culture and tons of Coke...The good and bad kinds.
Apple aired the "1984" Macintosh commercial and here we are...as Alex Trebek gave his first answer.
The USSR boycotted the Los Angeles Olympics and we fricking won everything. Including the Cold War a year later, thanks Rocky IV.
Music:
Michael Jackson, Prince, Van Halen (not Van Hagar), Springsteen, Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Billy Idol, Eurythmics, ZZ Top, The Cars.."Thriller", "Purple Rain", "Jump", "Sister Christian" and fricking' "99 Luftballons".
Movies were stupid awesome and film historic:
Coens arrive on the scene with Blood Simple
John Hughes arrives with Sixteen Candles
Arnold becomes the megastar with Terminator
Freddy Krueger enters our dreams
Ghostbusters rules
Eddie Murphy is our favorite cop
Miyagi teaches Karate via manual labor
Kevin Bacon is 6 degrees from dancing
The Nerds get revenge
...And Spinal Tap goes to 11.
There was a new dawn in America...a Red Dawn:
It was like everyday was Saturday morning...where you could watch this new cartoon called Transformers.
Safe to say, the legacy of pop-culture 1984, lived a long long time...just look at your Apple watch...that year is still ticking.

Never Ending Story
Either missed this as a kid or somehow didn’t remember watching it as a kid…watched it as an adult, and I thought it was a terrible movie.
