Emily Meade (Lori). Margarita Levieva (Abigail)

Emily Meade really grew on me this season. She showed some acting chops.

Margarita Levieva is Eastern European, Russian I think, and she is a stone cold smoke show imho.

The show went deep into Americana this final season, particularly big cities like NYC and LA during the 80s with the AIDs epidemic when all of us know someone who died of AIDs somewhere and then came Rock Hudson and the cat was outta the bag.

But the Debbie Does Dallas scene straight outta the tell all book was classic in E6 ..... I told my wife what was coming when Lori got into the van.

One thing they have done very well in this series is depict some of the real life characters of the time.

Another thing is how they present the clean-up effort from 33rd to 58th Streets up Broadway and 7th. Those were some really rough areas back in the 60s-80s until Koch was tossed and Rudy was elected.

Yeah that wasn't my favorite ending but it did a good job of closing out the necessary plot arcs. That walk at the end was neat to see.

I didnt mind the final scene. It at least gave a nod to some of the older characters. My biggest gripe with this season and its not really a gripe but I was disappointed they didnt include the pimps somehow. Larry had become arguably the best character on the show and I would have liked to see his story go on.

It was overall a really good show, but it was so depressing that I know I will never watch it again. This was the first episode in a while where something nice actually occurred, and it was the very last scene of the series. There was a wedding which are typically pretty nice, but a wedding on The Deuce, which was fitting, had one wedding partner as someone that is %100 going to die.

The final showdown between Gillenhall and Corey Stoll was expected. At some point you knew his "it's okay if you do porn" game was bullshite, and you knew she would never get down from her porn-feminist high horse and change for that guy.

I really thought that Franco would get revenge for his brother instead of just buying his way out of the show.

The ending montage/walk was good. It's getting difficult to come up with an original series ender. This one was pretty decent.

Gandolfini never impressed me in this show. I have my doubts when it comes to him in that Sopranos prequel.

Reminded me of Survivor shows when they would do a walk past a torch with everyone voted out's name.
But a nice walk down memory lane and a nice way to bring us from the early 70's to present day.

Thought Frankie walking Vince down the subway steps was a nice touch too. It was his time...

I guess I was hoping for some happy endings for some of them but in keeping with reality there was no Hollywood ending. I was really hoping Vince and Abby would work out but didn't think they would.
Except for maybe the wedding of the girl and the black guy with aids there was very little "joyous" moments in the episode (and that was not exactly ideal). In the end it was probably what happened to most folks in that area when they got pushed out. Just scattered to the wind.

I'd be remis if I didn't mention Lori's ending. While not truly shocking it caught me off guard. It happened so fast! I was hoping Candy would take her under her wing but then she had her own issues.

Overall enjoyed the ride. Spending time in NYC starting in the early eighties I can appreciate the transformation and a lot of the characters rang true.

I haven't been to Times Square since the early 80's. You see it on TV, but Franco's walkthrough really showed the full extent of the changes.

Watching the final season of Barney Miller right now and got to the episode where the homeless begin to pour into the precinct. The government agent who comes in to explain pretty much gives a synopsis of the redevelopment subplot of The Deuce.

I should have known it wouldnt work out but I did like her last line to him about keeping the little pride you have left.

I was thinking dang I hope he told her how much he paid for it. He basically paid 200k for the other girl to own the place.

He was terrible. Easily the worst character that got a decent amount of screen time.

Did the other characters ever acknowledge Lori’s death? She was late for a movie shoot with Candy, then the show just went on. Was there ever a scene where Candy or someone said, “Lori’s dead? OMG”

The Lori character was meh for a while, but I really felt for her this last season. Everyone around her, even after she was a star, was usIng her as much as the pimps did.

CC the pimp was one of my favorites. The guy who played him is a classically trained London actor perhaps best known as Lady Rose’s favorite jazz singer on Downton Abbey. Say what? That chap played the hell out of that pimp character.

Wow, I thought the final episode, especially Vincent's walk, was fantastic.

It's all been equal parts morbidly fascinating, weirdly titillating, bleak, nostalgic, etc. Good show but it really darkens your world to watch it.

This pretty much sums it up. I enjoyed it but I don't think I'll ever rewatch it.

He shot the guy who killed him in the face under a bridge.

What additional revenge did you have in mind?

I've said it multiple times but not having the pimps in season 3 was the main reason it was my least favorite season. Larry and CC were crazy good characters.

I was hoping that he would figure out that Tommy Longo was tied up in Frankie's death and that the Greeks were the ones cutting the drugs and causing Frankie to take the fall.

Did Tommy have anything to do with his death? I thought it was just that made guys son being a wild card and doing that himself?

I mean I know Tommy knew about it afterwards and then obviously killed Rudy but I didn't know Tommy was involved in Frankies death.

I thought that Tommy had introduced Frankie to the Greeks and was aware that the drugs were being cut too many times before the sale, and knew that Frankie had taken the fall for what the Greeks had done.
