This show is still going? I thought it was a limited 1 season show. Is it any good? Is it treme David Simon, or wire David Simon?

It’s actually pretty damn good.

I dunno which David Simon it is to be honest.

If you lived through the 70s and 80s it’s good. Franco and Maggie are great and they have a solid supporting cast.

I was up in NYC from time to time in the 70s because my college roommate was from Long Island. The place was crazy back then, totally out of hand until Rusy came along and cleaned it up.

Time Square, 2nd Ave, downtown from 6th-11th .... even Central Park. Dangerous places and wide arse open to anything. Total den of inequity. This show does a good job of telling that story and more IMHO.

Mrs. Oysterman and I have been watching.
A buddy of mine went to Fordham in the 80's and I'd go visit and check out NYC once or twice a year. The show definitely captures what it was like before Giuliani time. Times Square was squirrelly AF back then.
The show is well written and the characters are great. I like how they jump about 5 years each season and definitely interested to see where they got with it this year.

One thing I hope they don't drop is who was shooting at Vincent at the end of S2 when they went out to dinner after Rudy gave him the Caddy.

Hmmm...I watched Season 1 and enjoyed it, but never came back for Season 2. Guess I'll have to get back to this show someday.

I like that they jumped into AIDS without the usual "Ooh, there's a mysterious illness...(wink wink at the audience)".

I'm going to watch but I wish I could get some assurance that Maggie Gyllenhaal does not get naked this season.

lol .... yeah, well, she hasn't so far but I get it. She is was women were back then. Women, aux naturale complete with real boobs and no plastic surgery.

I respect her for doing it in today's modern world where fake titties and airbrushing is the norm.

Hell, there is something to be said for a woman these days just being a natural beauty. She's definitely not a 10, not even a 7, but she is a solid 5 IMHO and she has some chops.

I like this show. Kinda developed a little thing for Emily Meade (Lori). Margarita Levieva (Abigail) is prettier but Emily gets my motor running.

Hopefully they aren't done with all the pimps story lines. Larry was probably my favorite character.

Neither did I. I mean I kind of figured her story would end tragically somehow, but the swiftness with the way it happened in that scene was jarring.

Yep that was a tough watch. It had been foreshadowed with her buying a gun a couple of episodes ago but I didn't see it coming like that. This show has been a tough one but still extremely well done by David Simon.

I don't know if I'll be sad or relieved when the series wraps next week. It's all been equal parts morbidly fascinating, weirdly titillating, bleak, nostalgic, etc. Good show but it really darkens your world to watch it.

I guess I should have waited one more day to check this thread. That's a hell of a spoiler.

I've really enjoyed this series. The acting is top notch and the history is interesting and entertaining. Vincent & Mike - that was tough, probably my favorite characters. Lots of closure on the latest episode.

Watched the episode last night. Jesus, this show has just gotten brutal. I turned off the tv just feeling depressed and couldn't go to sleep after, I had to open a book. There is literally nothing positive happening. Candy is the happiest story line and her mother died, she has an estranged son, and cant get her movie made.

The scenes with big Mike and Vince at the cabin were great and the series has had some surprisingly good acting from Franco.

I didnt %100 follow the end of their conversation though.

Mike: you remember Honey?
Vince: yea
Mike: They were rich
Vince: yea
Mike: I ain't got no regrets. I drank from the cup.

Who was Honey? Am I missing something?
