Bane and Scarecrow took over the entire city and were making the rich go through their kangaroo court. So Bane had control over the city's financial power structure (which makes the Wall Street scene unnecessary but still badass) and the police were pretty helpless because of the device that Bane had hidden that could destroy the city.

Know what happens when a jet yanks a tow cable connected to a dude?
Best case scenario, snaps his neck. Most likely shatters every bone in his body and liquefied his organs.
The Bane shite was not the most ridiculous thing that happened in the trilogy.
This "gritty, realistic" show relied on as much magic as Harry Potter.

Are you talking about the skyhook retrieval of Batman in Dark Knight?

If you’re talking about the skyhook scene in TDK, that’s a scene where Suspension-of-Disbelief actually works. The hook/cable was attached to Batman, and the universe has eased us into Batman’s durability and capabilities to withstand things that would kill ordinary men.
Same with Iron Man. Impacting the ground after falling 30,000 without a parachute obviously lethal, but the series eased us into that by showing Tony taking lethal blows. (Also, we’re allowed to excuse the lethality of the injuries because we know the suit protects him.)
But in regards to the example given in the OP, Bane doing this fraudulent transaction in front of thousands of witnesses and the story acting like it makes sense that Bruce would somehow be broke defies the rules as they have been set up.
We still expect the basics of identity protection to still hold up. If an obviously fraudulent series of transactions occurred and there are literally thousands of witnesses, we expect it would be no sweat for Bruce to get the transactions voided.
Also, we expect him to have enough cash on hand to pay for at least 1 month’s bills on his electricity. It’s cartoon logic to think “rich people” have all their money tied up in the stock market.

That’s an actual system that has been used on people. The forces involved are described as “less than a parachute opening.”

I’m somewhat aware that it’s based on an actual system. (It’s even mentioned in the movie that the CIA was looking into it.)
But has it ever been successfully done with plane at (what appears to be) full throttle?

Not sure what velocity “full throttle” would be for this prop plane, but yes it has been successfully done a number of times with a flying plane. You are not immediately taken to the velocity of the plane because of the slack of the ropes and geometry of the setup. It’s a real thing and doesn’t require suspension of disbelief.

It wasn’t used much because of modern helicopters but it’s pretty amazing. Here is early testing of it with a small prop. It was later done with B-17s I think. I’ve seen speed estimates of 125 mph

Interesting. Fair enough. You're probably right that this wasn't a case that required Suspension-of-Disbelief. But, Google images of it done in real-life make appear that it is actually done in a brace position while sitting on the ground (which Batman wasn't in) and Batman (as a novice) would probably be too inexperienced to do it correctly on the first attempt. So there's still a bit of SoD going on in this case.

It was actually months. Almost a year.
