I think we all know his Joker is amazing, but she breaks down further as to WHY we feel it:

I don't doubt any of this. I'd doubt that Hamill was consciously trying to hit those goals. I do know that he was extremely familiar with the character and that and his love of comics were probably why this became his signature voice.

As dumb and poor an actor Mark may be I still don’t doubt he knows what he’s doing here. More likely he’s got his wheelhouse of talent than stumbled into it Forest Gump style.
