I've had a camp on Lake Verret for 20+ years.I know Troy personally,he's being depicted exactly as he is.There are lots of good people down there who just want to be left alone and live there life as their ancestors did.

I like the show and don't have a problem with the way they are portrayed, including Bruce. He may look strange, but I've met several people that wear crazy shite like that.

Like he said in the first episode, "I don't like to be different from other people, I just am different. It's the way I am."

I have yet to meet a commercial fisherman that hated what he did for a living. Many have told me there is no place else they want to be. Being able to be out on the water and your own boss is something special IMO.

Is the show only about hunting gators? I may be in the minority on this but I'm getting bored with watching a gator get shot in the head for the umpteenth time.

I think it is mainly focusing on gator hunting this season. Hopefully they'll cover some other angles later this season or next season. Crawfishing, catfishing, frogging, etc.

The Weather Channel does more to defame Cajuns when covering a hurricane than this show does.

shows like this do make us look bad in Louisiana. People who have never been here see a show like this and assume that all of Louisiana is bayous and swamps and that the people are all toothless retards, but what u gunna do. This is almost as bad as they made LA look in the Waterboy

Not hardly, but you're entitled to your opinion. I think the show portrays these people as industrious and hard-working. Mike Kliebert and Troy Landry are anything BUT "toothless retards." Hell, if more people in this country were like the "Swamp People," we wouldn't have a lot of the problems we have today. I admire and respect everybody on this show.

Personally i dont think it has anything to do with hunting gator. I think its a secret underground ploy to undermine the White right wing conservitaves by portraying them as these under educated poor swamp people. They are saying "Here is what white people do and act like in the south" Which is far from the truth.

Oh shite! that a Tree shaka rite der! Tree shaka!
it is funny as hell though.

I think the show really does a good job pointing out that these are a rare few people that make their livings in the marsh and swamps, and that they are hard working, industrious people.

I hung out with Tommy yesterday tailgating at the coors light tent...really nice guy. He gave me a few spoilers for the rest of the season.

Troy and the alligator farm brothers-in-law don't come off as really being either. They may not be rich but anyone with that many alligator tags is either a big time land owner or well connected. They don't just give anyone with a boat and some rotten chicken 200+ gator tags.

I have heard that one of Troy's sons. The one driving the boat is an engineer at Shaw. He just does this on the side. Thats pretty educated

Bruce and Mike are anything but "toothless retards"....they run an extremely profitable business and are quality people.

I was on the way home from New Orleans this morning and saw Bruce driving his mud boat next to the interstate (near the bonnet carre spillway) with is cut off coveralls and no shirt.

I'm assuming he was gator hunting.
