That’s not what she said. She said her subconscious went to that thought. She then went out of her way to assuage blockhead’s crying over being called a racist.

She said she's playing her idol because she's not going to be the 3rd black person voted out. Maryanne said she couldn't vote for drea because she's black. At the very least they made it about race.the whole conversation was about race.

The conversation was about race, but that doesn’t mean there were accusations of racism. Drea also said she was playing her idol because she didn’t want to be accused of playing the race card to save herself, and MaryAnne joined her with that same sentiment.

it was a god read that something was off. She was going home if she doesn’t do that

She said specifically that she didn’t want to see another player of color on the jury. Her statement did not mention game play, bad luck, or any other component of Survivor. I believe she even used the term “people like us”.

Jonathan was right to call her out…after her speech, how would any non AA player be viewed for voting for her or Maryanne?

Sure but her reasoning wasn't because she felt targeted. Her reasoning was im playing it because im black.it certainly worked out for her but she only only played it because she didn't wanna be a another black person on the jury not because she caught wind of being the target. Maryann did the same thing and literally said that

actually Maryanne specifically said that she played the idol bc she didn’t want people to feel that they couldn’t vote for her because of the race card. So that dummies online wouldn’t say she got through bc of the race conversation. Not that it worked.

I feel like the majority should have read the room better and knew that voting off black black black was going to turn into a thing given the climate when this show was filmed.

I’m not sure Jonathan completely killed his game but he definitely should not have chimed in the way he did.

From a pure game standpoint, I think you have to respect how Drea played it. She saved herself a few eliminations bc everyone will be scared to vote her off coming out of that and if she does make it to the end she can almost guarantee the other 3 black votes.

In all seriousness then. What was she trying say? I mean maybe I mis understood her. What was her point of saying people like us? What was she trying to say?

She said the blacks being voted out was subconsciously related to race (by the racist gay Hispanic and muslim guys apparently) not anything about her subconscious going there.

She also at one point accused the other players' subconscious for putting two black players on the jury. If she wasn't accusing them of being racist then she was damn sure making sure they couldn't vote her out next without it looking racist.

Still, flushed out two idols, Tori was an easy fall person, and now black people are going to be guaranteed to be voted out first in the near future.

It was a good read on her part. I do wonder if in the scenario of split tribals the best play is to just play the idol anyway to leave no room for doubt. I believe Naseer was voted out idol in pocket in the same scenario last season. Because of the catchphrase twist, everyone knows you have an idol and the vote is between just 4 people. It would not take too much to convince the majority that they would be making a big move to take out the person with the idol.

It did work out for Mike to not play his though that may play to Drea's benefit given her knowledge is power advantage. She now effectively has an idol play without anyone knowing about it.

The outcome of the season is already out there and being thrown around loosely. . Tread lightly if you all don’t want spoilers. I saw it by coincidence today when I went to a coworkers desk.

I look at one non-spoiler recap site and on here. If anyone posts spoilers in here then they can go frick themselves.

I just hope it's not Drea.

I’ll assume you are genuinely curious, and will say you first have to be empathetic to life experiences she brings to the table. Whether you want to admit it or not, she’s likely faced countless minor and major indignities in her life simply because of the color of her skin. Those experiences accumulate in one’s psyche and black women especially become hypersensitive to it. She walks into tribal assuming like everyone else that Romeo was going to be on the jury, but instead it is a black man. So now there are 2 members of the jury, both black. So those suppressed feelings come to the surface and her mind immediately goes to black people being the targets at this stage of the game. It’s doesn’t mean that is the actual case, and it doesn’t mean she’s accusing anyone of racial animus. She’s applying her lived experience to the situation she has been put in. So she announces she is playing her hidden immunity idol, both to assure her safety and to do her part to keep another black player from being voted to the jury. Of course she knew how her reaction would be perceived, and she had to calmly explain to Jonathan how she wasn’t calling him racist, and then had to make a point she wasn’t bluffing with the idol to avoid being accused of playing the race card to save herself.

Spleen, I get what you are saying but when does this shite end? Do you really think most black people who aren’t idiots are really discriminated against these days, the last 20 years? That’s horseshite. The same lame excuses being used to make people feel sorry for someone with a different skin tone. Well, her ploy worked yet now she has no idol…

Yet the person who should’ve been voted out, was. Kinda

Anyway, the next few episodes should be good! No clue how this is going to turn out.

Every person is a color.

Such a tired phrase…

Spleen, all of what you said may be true…but none of what you said justifies her to play that way. By that, I’ll repeat what I said earlier: by dropping the race card, she made it difficult for any other player to vote for an AA player. No one in the game, to the best of anyone’s knowledge, treated her poorly due to her color, in any way, shape or form. Yet she dropped a tactical nuke on the game by implying players have been voted out because of their race. “No one here is a racist, but my people are on the jury because of racism.”

Show me real racism, and I’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with anyone to fight it. But I’m getting tired of this bullshite using it as a crutch. If she was about to be voted out, maybe -just maybe, she wasn’t the best player. Or maybe some cannot accept that.
