if this movie disappears off the radar (chronicles of riddick was also DESTROYED by the critics when it was first released) i predict it will quickly achieve cult status as people (like me) who watch it without *ANY* pre-expectations enjoy the hell out of it and take it for what it is...visual eye candy.

as for critics and the sheep who worship them and dont think for themselves

This is an example of a "bad movie" that I actually enjoyed. I don't consider myself a movie snob, but I would like for a script to not be so bad that it is openly mocked in theaters. That's just me though.

FWIW, MTV has been selling sex for a LONGGGGGGGGGG time. They say their main demographic is 18-34 but we all know that's bullshite. It's more like 10-25. What do most teens and young adults have on their minds? Sex. What do they give them? Sex.

there's a huge difference imo betwen peddling sex (which is pretty much at the heart of 90% of hollywood entertainment) and child porn. mtv is getting away with the latter while we chase with gusto and throw in jail people who download porn and grab the occasional underage image.

can u safely say you've never looked at a picture of a minor when surfing porn?

when i was at lsu, the seedy gas station behind fred's and SI had DOZENS of tracey lords movies that could be legally rented. a year later it came out she was underage..so what..? everyone over the age of 18 at lsu at the time that watched those is now guilty of buying child porn? they all should now be labelled sex offenders and put into a national database? ignorance is no excuse..? apparently not because those creeps hansen catches pretty much know life as they used to know it is now over for them and all they did was show up at a house where someone who isn't even actually underaged (cop actress) is.

eta i'm done..this is going to go around and around and vor is licking his chops. my point was there is a double standard at work here where hollywood gets away with stuff that would cause an average joe to go away to jail for years. "untouchable"

as for whoopie..i was pointing out someone who is supposedly for women's rights and shite quickly sold out the 13 year old girl who was drugged and raped so she could suck up to her politically correct director scumbag buddy. and it wasn't just her..it was TONS AND TONS of hollywood elite people. scumbags. all of them.

You're just making shite up. Some parents organization said the MTV show "depicted . . . blah blah blah . . .). That was their characterization of the show. And nowhere did they or anyone else say that underaged kids actually engaged in sex onscreen.

It's because you engage in outrageous characterizations of what turns out to be nothing at all. Tempest in a fricking teapot. You're such an easy target.

I definitely agree with this. But that's a long way from Hollywood wholesale promoting pedophilia as someone around here has suggested.

Sucker Punch was a good movie. Good action scenes and the girls in the film were not teenagers. I mean babydoll is lised as 20 on the form and the other actresses are in their 20s and clearly look like women in their 20s.

MTV doesn't throw up child porn on tv bruh, no one does. They are implying that teens have sex; THEY DO!

That's art imitating one of the pillars of life right there.

FWIW, I do agree that there is a lot of hypocrisy in our law system. Polanski's arse should be in the clink right now.

I also think that it's fricked that that in some states, it is legally okay to pork a girl under 18. For example, the legal age of consent is 16 in South Carolina, so legally speaking, I and every other adult male in this state not directly related to her can run a train on her (provided she is willing) and there is no legal case against it. However, if I tape me plowing her or take a picture of her nude and show it to a buddy, that's distribution of child pornography. What kind of shite is that? You can't show a nude picture of a chic to another male, but he can bang her without repercussion.

Gotta love our country's laws.

Not much to do with hypocrisy. The a-hole just beat it out of the country and is trying to avoid extradition. His arse would have been in the clink had he stayed.

Any good lawyering jobs up your way? How are housing prices?

(THAT WAS A frickING JOKE!!! RELAX)

Did I actually bash it anywhere? At most I just said it didn't look promising.

Seriously, I could pick apart its flaws (it had many). But I enjoyed the movie for what it was, and isn't that what it's all about?

Despite it being elementary, the "metaphor" of Baby "using her weapons" was different, in a good way (although I wouldn't have minded seeing her dance instead of watching her rip zombie/nazi/samurai faces off. She was gorgeous). The cinematography was top notch; Zach owns the green screen. The sound (in IMAX) was jaw-dropping. The action sequences were epilepsy-inducing mind jobs. Those aspects were very well crafted.

The dialogue was missing something, certainly. The entire time the cast was talking, I was hoping they would get back to shooting things soon. The plot was thin, but enough to stick it all together. It was never so bad it became distracting.

I think this movie is for movie "fans," in that it was a fun experience. As far as being critical, it was a great film from the technical side of things, but won't win any Best Actor Oscars. Worth seeing at the theatre though!

So far out of three Sucker Punch threads, you and dualed are the only two posters to talk negatively about it.

Like I told ya, I can see why you wouldn't like it. Just don't know why your acting like it's one of the worst movies ever. I doubt you seriously think that. But it is fun to debate either way.
