quote:What? He was waiting for Jane to return for the upside down. But he didn't know that Hopper was housing Jane in a remote location.
The Mike/El love story was annoying and Mike was a big time douche all season.
I'll admit that how salty he was towards Max was a bit ridiculous. But other than that. I get where he was coming from.
quote:That's not true. We found out that he started the AV Club at Hawkins High and he helped save the group because he was the only person who understood BASIC.
Bob was clearly on the show just to die. And his death made him look incredibly stupid.

I completely disagree with people saying the woman playing Nance pulled off that drunk scene. I thought that was easily the worst acting of the season, and that character was just awful in general.
Last thing is I felt they tried way too hard to give every character dramatic scene after dramatic scene. It’s like they lost track of what made season 1 loved by everyone.

The hate for episode seven on this board is kind of comical.
I think the problem was the over the top crew of misfits. Had 8 just been running with a group of normal low key criminals it would have all been about 8 and 11. But they felt it was important to play up the misfit angle for some reason and it was like walking out of small town Pennsylvania into Mos Eisley. If the other people had been more in the background and you just have the contrast of 8 and 11 it'd have been fine while still meeting the presumed bigger goal of setting up something for later.

quote:This is the angle I'm taking. Billy moved from California to middle of nowhere Indiana with his father and step mom. He clearly doesn't like the situation and his father seems like a real dick. Billy's takes all of the negative in his life and puts it on Max.
It very well could be race related. But I took it as he was just a dick and tried to be controlling of his sister (which we find out that's how his dad is with him) and didn't want her having any fun. JMO
It's certainly not impossible that it isn't a race issue (I mean it is Indiana in the 80's). But that's not the immediate thing that comes to my mind.

My thoughts exactly. As I watched I got the feeling that Dustin and Lucas had somewhat moved on from the previous events and Mike wasn't going to. It was almost like by adding Max to the group they were like officially writing Eleven off forever.

A matter of fact, I think it would be best that any other characters like them have vastly different backgrounds and experiences.

Ep. 7 was worth it just for the Jane character development but it sets up some pretty interesting possibilities down the road as well. Ep. 7 is where Jane learns to use anger as a source for her powers. Without that she can't close the gate.

But they are growing up and going through teenage angst, at times they will be like kids and at other times they will be surly and a bit off

It is implied that she is breaking some rule of the abusive dad's that Billy is just trying to enforce. Race is the most obvious thing but it could just be she's too young to be dating because they never come out or even imply race is the issue other than Lucas is black.

I agree, a dude with a mohawk was as necessary as the brotha walking down the street with a boom box on his shoulder. But people keep screaming "it doesn't fit" and they shouldn't have a problem with 8 herself or El's journey to find her, so it has to be the over the top crew 8 is running with that people think is such a poor fit. I don't get the level of hate either, but I think that's what's triggering people.
I personally liked the episode because as I watched it I knew they were expanding the universe and because I can count there are possibly 9 other special children to be found. I'm not sure how they are going to bring in other power kids without the boys getting shoved to the background, but all El did was close a door. I doubt she can kill the shadow monster on her own.

Episode 7 was about 11. 7/11 The best '80s Gas Station. The show writers are amazing.

Agreed. I didn't find the Mike/El love story annoying at all. A big part of the draw of the show is the nostalgia factor. Anyone that lived through the 80s loves the show because of how well they portrayed that time period. The kids in the show are 12-13, an age where many have their first crushes/puppy love. Considering how much time they spent together in the first season...I felt like having a love story develop between them was just natural.

Also, having Sean Astin and Winona Ryder in the show was another perfect nod to the 80s in my opinion. These two were child/teenage actors in the 80s. Considering how Stranger Things keeps giving off a Goonies-ish vibe...I was happy Sean was included in the show. Sad his character couldn't have lived though.
I enjoyed season 2...even the episode everyone else seems to hate.

This twitter feed has some cool stuff about the show. Some of it may be common knowledge but a few things just went right over my head or I was zoned out watching LINK

Or, and stay with me here, you just don’t like anything I said because you are clearly a huge fan of the show and everything they did?
I didn’t think it was bad. I just thought they went away from what made season 1 so fun, and it didn’t work as well for me. I really hope it’s okay with you that I feel this way.

Once it hit me that Will kept saying "he likes it cold" I thought for sure that dead demodog was going to come back to life after Steve shoved it in the freezer haha.
