You should see that lady on the Handmaids Tale. She needs a serious PR makeover
I mean, this is the career she built for herself. She was never going to be "the looker", not in Hollywood. She also started getting regular work kind of late (mid-30s). Some of you baws might remember her as the "see you next Thursday" mother of Kim Kelly, "Cookie" in Freaks and Geeks.
That was a hard 44 years already. Not that she was repulsive looking, just "well past attractive".
She carved out a niche of bitches, matronly but sharp characters, or outright sadistic female authority figures over the past 30-something years. And she is great at it.

I watched The Leftovers and Handmaid's almost back to back at one time and she's is amazing in that type of role.
Dudes don't need to jerk off to every actress. She's great in both roles. And I hate her characters too.

Also, I don't hate Patty at all. Not sure where you got that or why you said that. She was a good character.
I meant the general audience hates her, but hates her in a good way because her character is so good. Not you personally disliking her character.

That was a cool moment, but it also was sort of silly in that Kevin dying but not really dying lowered the stakes a lot for me.
Which added a little more credence to Matt's Christ like figure. But I didn't take it that he actually died, more of had to go to the brink of death. All of that dream taking place in a little amount of real time.
Edit to add that I am in the minority here. Especially considering the time he drank the poison because enough time had elapsed for Michael to take him out and start to bury him.

SPOILERS
This was in the book, not necessarily Lindelof.
This one to me can be easily justified in that something crazy supernatural just happened, it wouldn't be out of the range of possibility for other odd things happen/the earth react in a weird way.
I've seen the show 4-5 and I genuinely don't remember this
Hmm.
There were numerous things that tied back to the Nat Geo magazine. The bear as well as Cairo connection. I agree it was essentially a red herring but it just gave Kevin Srs crazy ramblings a connection and that there was actually something to his mental state as well so it was almost something hereditary for Kevin Jr.
The show went well past the book and is probably the only show/movie I can 100% say is better than the book. The book was pretty short and essentially only covered season one but even season one was very different. The author of the book helped on the show though and has openly said he liked the changes made.

The chick mumbling about "spiders underwater" which tied into that issue of National Geographic- again, all lead to a big fat nothing.

Now we're in Aussie land and senior is learning to be an aborigine.
They kill the police chief because his name was Kevin?
Nora is dumb enough to let strangers put her inside of a closed box?
Junior sees Evie, or her lookalike?
Every trek in this show is loaded with mishaps. Senior gets thrown out of the ambulance, comes across a guy with a car, great! not fast, guy sets himself and the car on fire. cassette tape gets ruined. Oh look, a snake i'm gonna eat it. nope, snake bite. crawls to the memorial where he's probably gonna die. nope chick turned cop killer rescues him.

This show has just gotten silly. The lion orgy on the ferry. A guy who calls himself god. Kevin has a twin. One is president, one is an assassin. A penis scanner? A song to stop a flood.

2% of the population disappeared. The world has gotten silly. That's just part of it, it's not the same world it was before and it's just showing how an event like that would make people do really weird stuff. Though in fairness it wasn't an orgy with the lion

It's not a real life twin. You getting why he's having to go through that/become an assassin?

Quite honestly, I'm not sure I get anything about this show.
So, the "departed" got sent to some other alternate universe? Or, did the other people actually get sent and the others stayed?

That's fair
The season 2 international assassin was doing what he had to do to keep from going crazy. he was going to end up like his dad, but much worse and much sooner so he had to get rid of Patti. Show just created a crazy way of doing it. The second to last episode where Kevin went back was now about family.
Other things were needing to be more important in his life now other than himself, so in this thread/death/underworld whatever you want to call it, he's killing basically his lesser or old self.
A lot more to it than that but that's just a generic explanation.

Not sure if they ever said another universe but kind of. It turned out that where everyone else was was pretty much identical except they thought 98% of the population disappeared. Nora was able to make it there and found her family and they were just living a seemingly normal life so she kind of felt at peace and didn't disturb their life. Turns out the world that only lost 2%, though devastating, had a lot less loss than the 95%.

Bigly.
Like I said, I like the show a lot. But we went off the rails stupid a few times as it went on, especially in S3.
