I would only show him 1-3 for right now. 4-6 are clearly the better movies, but he's too young to appreciate them.
Tha hell? This is a ridiculous point to make.

Not everyone hated Phantom Menace. I thought Darth Maul was pretty freakin' sweet
The people who didn't are either 10 year olds or they're stupid.

This is an interesting concept, for a kid's first viewing. I'd likely go, 4,5,1,2,3,6. There's no real spoilers in 1 to ruin the 6 is there? Why not throw 1 in? It's a kid watching a kids' movie.
Skipping I would also help keep the Palpatine twist intact until the end of Episode II...heck...possibly until the middle of Episode III. Lucas wanted to add a new twist and mystery into the prequels, "Who is this mysterious Sith lord behind all of this?" But he screwed it up at the end of I when Mace Windu says, "But which one was destroyed, the master or the apprentice?" before cutting away to a lingering shot of a very dark looking Palpatine. Could you be more blatant?
Plus skipping I also eliminates the creepy relationship Anakin and Padme have and also eliminates Jar Jar Binks.

I have been a star wars fan since about 5. I was too young to see the originals in theatre but I saw the digital remastered versions and 1-3 in theaters. My question is, if Lucas completely remade 4-6 with new tech but same exact script would you watch it or would different characters/ sets kill it for you?
I just feel that Lucas could make it exactly like he saw it in his head originally with tech these days. But I'm still torn on the thought.

No I would not. 4 and 5 are perfect films, and I don't think you need to remake the two of them just to redo Return of the Jedi, because the scene that matters (The Throne Room), is also done perfectly. I may watch it reluctantly, but it would be after much internal conflict.

Trust me, you do not want to see the film George Lucas originally had in his head. Han Solo was originally going to be like Greedo and C-3PO was going to be a slimy used car salesman. Plus Vader wouldn't have been remotely close to the character he turned out to be.
