He didn't snap away all the technology so... no.

It’s probably months later at least. Life on Earth has moved on after huge wars too.

He did not take away the tech yes.
He took away half the people.
Half the knowledge.
Half the trained workers.
Half the cops.
Half he farmers, you can assume food production is cut in half. And it’s not as simple as the population being smaller, you’ve cut distribution capacity likely in half, which is a big problem.
Probably a stretch to say the power grid and entire energy industry would keep functioning fully.
It would take more than five years to begin getting ahead of the chaos.
Most people are not just going to keep working, they’re going to try and protect their shite. People definitely won’t be jumping in to seamlessly fill vital roles to keep society flowing without a hiccup.
Your going to get a fair amount of book of Eli, the road, zombie less walking dead scenario going.

In a country with an unstable government and poor infrastructure like many African and Middle Eastern countries? Sure, things would get bad there. But in countries like the US, UK, Japan, Norway, Finland etc etc? Nah.
If anything it would just make the move towards automation go much faster. The knowledge would still be there. It isn't a Library of Alexandria burning down situation.

A snow storm can shut down most of the country, but half the population disappearing with a snap and we role with it?
You have a lot of faith in our economic system and people in general.
I would still predict mass chaos. The more agrarian less developed countries will probably be better able to keep on like they were doing before.

A snowstorm shuts things down b/c it cuts off the ability to use infrastructure. It doesn't have anything to do with a lack of people.

Of course not, but after the initial shutdowns you'd only need half as much energy and power. You're talking sporadic service loss over a 6 month period tops.

Most people are not just going to keep working
Why not. They would be needed now more than ever and probably paid better than they ever have been.

hey’re going to try and protect their shite.
From who? Half the criminals remember.
