According to the M/TV greater minds, there has never been a better season.

I liked the first two episodes well enough. I assume the high ratings for those are mainly due to there not really being much SP in the last several years and when they FINALLY air new episodes, they don't suck and are decently funny. So people are glad to have it back (I know I am). But in terms of quality, this being the "highest rated season ever after two episodes" is laughable and hard to believe. I won't argue that the numbers insinuate something different, but this show at its peak was top tier television. And this season isn't that IMO. So maybe the public's opinion has changed (and also mine to a degree I'm sure). Up until last night, this season has been good. But not THAT good.

So far...

Theres no higher rated first 2 episodes on IMDB for any season. Some other seasons that were really good didnt start off with strong episodes.

The funny thing about the Trumpers getting mad about the small dick energy jokes is it seems like they have that in common. Never seen a more thin skinned group

All of the techies donating to the inauguration and sucking up to Trump actually happened.

They should have added the japanese guy from the chinpokemon episode

Cartman run for class President and been "trump" for a few episodes.

That could work. IMO their biggest mistake was making Garrison into Trump. What was stupid about that whole thing is that instead of making Garrison try to be like Trump, they literally made him the same person. And then when he actually won the election, it felt like they had painted themselves into a corner and stuck with it. On top of that all, you lose Garrison as a character altogether too. Had they done this shite they're doing now and making Trump like Saddam from the beginning, it would've landed better with me I think. At least now we have actual Trump and actual garrison as two separate characters.

Also, it doesn't bother me that T&M never went after Biden/Kamala, but if the reason is because they share a lawyer, that seems like a very un-Matt&Trey-like thing to do and is pretty disappointing. Their whole schtick is that they go after everybody and don't handle anything with kid gloves. It's what made them so great. So laying off of what could've been comedy gold just to not piss someone off is not true South Park IMO.

I know this is your schtick, but that sounds stupid even coming from you. Most people in here are simply saying that making fun of Trump over and over, using the same literal joke or two, just feels lazy and makes for boring TV.

That's a fair point, and one that can be made without coming from a "but they are making fun of MY GUY/small dick" perspective.

I know your MO is to ruin threads with inane bullshite arguments, so I won't slow you down...go for it. But sometimes even you manage to outdo your own stupidity. And this was one of those times.

I could almost buy into it a little bit if something happened and they are just doing the same joke over and over to try to piss Trump off I guess, but did anything like that happen, or are they just pumping out episodes trying to get to the end of the season?

You have to wonder if the White House hadn’t commented on the first episode, would these last two episodes have been what they are.

What's pretty funny is if you go look at teh number of ratings, someone very clearly flooded episode 1's votes. Most episodes have around 4k or less votes, and a 9.5 rating is absurdly high. We really gonna pretend that was a top 5 all time South Park episode? Plenty of episode 2s have outperformed this season's.

This all looks very coordinated just for certain people to make stupid arguments like Corinthians is doing

I just enjoy how this guy has shifted to IMDB ratings after realizing he had been bamboozled by Paramounts PR release on viewership numbers.

Episode 1 got more attention by the news than maybe any episode ever. People that don’t watch South Park were aware of it. So it makes sense that they will get more ratings in general.

More ratings sure, more 10 star ratings? Highly doubtful. I want one of yall to go on record that episode 27.1 is the second best episode of South Park. Don't be a pussy and say it's rated that. Tell me you legitimately believe that it's teh second best episode of South Park ever.

If a sandwich shop made a "frick Donald Trump" burger with his mugshot on the bun and then Trump got defensive and tweeted about it, the google ratings for that shop would explode. To then turn to the google reviews to argue "Look at the ratings, this is the best sandwich shop in the state" would be silly.

Thats just the world we live in. I suspect there is a little bit of that going on with episode 1 on IMDB.

I can already hear the Harry Sissons of the world using these rankings to say America is obviously regretting Trump

The people that are fans that were already rating the show were going to keep rating it. What crowd do you think the extra ratings are coming from when it’s an episode making fun of trump? It’s not hard to connect the dots.

That’s the point I was making. I wasn’t saying that this is the best season ever, but was just explaining why the ratings are what they are.

No shite, sherlock. So again, anyone want to tell me with a straight face that this was a top 2 episode?
