Agreed. I’d rather they focus away from the political stuff. It’s surprising to see this direction after they admitted how much they regretted focusing so much on Trump leading up to 2016 election.
I just want to see the town of South Park and not their take on political figures.
Yeah, I mean Kristi Noem is really rich material for South Park to go after, but give us a break from politics for a little bit. Things aren’t totally going off the rails right now and in ten years no one will remember what South Park is talking about these days. Like you think Trump cleaning up DC is going to be good of material?

I was told by a few here that they weren't going to be doing a full season of this? Oh well.
I hope they keep at. I find the Internet crying to be more fun than the episodes.

That's not a very glowing endoresement for the episodes.

sounds like tonight’s episode will be about folks like you.
All I’m saying is South Park is doing this and need to tone it down.

Theyve decided now they are gonna cry about the episodes before they even come out. Its nice to get all the thin-skinned pussies in one thread though.

Either Matt and Trey are wrong in thinking South Park is invincible to a ratings slip or they simply dont care because they got paid.
My gut says the latter.

According to Paramount’s newly released ratings, the August 6 episode of the series was its highest-rated episode since 2018 and biggest share in series history.
Season 27 episode 2 drew 6.2M global multi-platform viewers across Comedy Central and Paramount+ in its first three days, Paramount Global said. That’s a slight increase from the premiere episode, which reached nearly 6M viewers in the same time frame.
On cable, the second episode of this season is now the highest-rated episode of “South Park” since 2018, outperforming the premiere episode by 54% in the 18-49 demo with a 1.53, per Nielsen data. In terms of cable viewers, the episode brought in an audience of 1.56M in L3 (live ratings across three days), indicating that the majority of the audience came from streaming

Want to make a bet that if they continue down this path for an entire season the ratings wont slip?
South Park has basically been borderline non-existent for over 5 years and there are lots of eyes who were eager for a return. That ratings boost will level off.

So not only are ratings not dropping they went up in the second episode.
There is a reason they got paid, they are still one of the few must watch TV shows left.

They barely outdrew 12 year olds playing bad baseball on ESPN. They were the 18th most watched show on television that night.

Paramount putting streaming numbers in there is pr nonsense. Squid Games drew over 100 million viewers in ten days post release. Season 1 of Wednesday drew over 7 million viewers this week on Netflix.
This isn't me just trying to down South Park. Im just making a case that they aren't some untouchable giant who can do whatever they want without eventually impacting viewership.

The first 2 episodes of this season are the highest rated first 2 episodes of any South Park season ever.
Im sure some of the ball polishers will quit watching but the ratings will still be good the rest of the season because they make up a small percentage of a huge country.

Wrong. Paramount is including streaming in their overall numbers. It drew 840,000 live viewers. From that perspective it isnt even in the top 300.
Streaming is nonsensical to add. The global streaming audience has nearly doubled since 2020 and South Park hasn't had a real season since 2019. Using streaming numbers compared to live viewership numbers in the past is data manipulation to frame a narrative by a corporation who just invested in an insane amount of money in a product

Wrong
It has a 9.5 for episode 1 and an 8.6 for episode 2.
The next highest is season 8 with a 9.2 and an 8.6 for eps 1 and 2.

Using only live tv numbers in 2025 when most people watch streaming is just retarded but you can be retarded if you want to be

You think Matt and Trey have ever had the mindset that they should make episodes to get good ratings? Don't think so. They've always been counter-culture and just try to do things that they think are funny.

Calling me retarded and then bringing IMDB viewer episode ratings into a viewership statistics debate is wild.
You should talk to your friends at Paramount because they are the ones who manipulated the data. I am simply pointing out that there is no way to prove Southpark is as popular as its ever been with viewership statistics. Which you figured out and then turned to internet polls on IMDB
Posted on 8/20/25 at 12:16 pm to msutiger
You said the viewership ratings would drop if they continued down this path.
The path is so far is the best season of south park ever through 2 episodes according to reviews. Why would that cause viewership to drop?
