the FCC doesn't apply to cable. A show could technically just do a whole show with no dialouge but "frickfrick frick" while showing a hardcore porn if they wanted to. Networks keep rules there to satisfy their advertisers.

That said
Southpark Advertisers know what they are spending on. With all the subjects they hit "****" prob. seemed like a day in the park to them.

It was an African-American gentleman referring to non African-Americans with this term. I think Matt and Trey were trying a little dose of irony there.

It was never bleeped.

When Jimmy was in the Crips, he used it a few times (in the less objectionable n-i-g-g-a form).

"With Apologies to Jesse Jackson" - the "g-e-r" form was used throughout, including as a wrong answer on Wheel of Fortune, probably dozens of times. They cleverly turned the word into a slur against bigots.

They're brilliant satirists, bordering on genius at times.

Obviously I forgot about one of the greatest SP moments ever.

Just watched it, and I thought it was pretty good. Definitely liked when they brought in Edgar Allen Poe.

When the Butter's episode was new, it was fantastic and made sense to give him his own episode. It hasn't aged as well, but it was part of introducing him since he was going to become a major character.

I actually think that may be the best episode of the series.
