I'm a huge Sonic fan, and yes I'm still very disappointed in Sonic's design. This looks much better than I expected. The attitude is there and I'm digging the humor.

Will this be a blockbuster hit? Probably not, but My expectations have been raised after this trailer, and that's a good thing.

As someone said before, this doesn’t even look up to be at the level of the recent Smurf and Chipmunk movies. The Sonic CGI looks quite unfinished but it’s possible that 80% of the budget went to Carrey. And there’s no excuse for Sonic’s face to be that off model. Neck down he looks like a 5 year old boy with fur which is quite disturbing. The only thing that peaked my interest was that weird spliced-in clip of Carrey looking identical to the video game Robotnik at the last second.

I grew up with the Sonic as a personal top 10 game of all time and pretty much the only time I plugged in my brother’s Genesis over my vastly superior SNES. I know jack shite about Pokémon but it looks a million times more interesting. Just some bad timing for Sega. You know they’ve been anticipating this movie for years and then Nintendo releases a near Marvel-quality level movie without Mario even in it.

The fact that they inexplicably use Ganster's Paradise as the backing music for the trailer makes me think this movie is going to be chock full of extremely dated references.

It made no sense in the context of the movie, or the trailer, or even any joke in the trailer

This reeks of an old movie producer trying to cut corners to make a nostalgia driven film to cash in on.

Because that actually looks good and a video game franchise done right on the big screen. Save for Scott Pilgrim vs the World, it’s looking like that may be the first great movie based off of a video game.

And really? Should ANY video game movie be made that’s not in the neighborhood of Wreck-It Ralph in animation and quality at this point? I remember the Sonic nerds going ape-shite happy over his 4 second cameo in the first Wreck-it Ralph that was shown at some Sega convention. They must feel the complete opposite today.

You know what I mean, and I need to add Wreck It Ralph to that.

Looks like shite.

Jim is trying again, it's Sonic, and it's Coolio. I'll watch it when it's free.

If you disagree, meet me at Sonic.

This and detective pukachu look terrible honestly. I go and see all popular movies in theaters during opening but these 2 are an easy pass

I didn't word that very well. Sonic was getting hated on so hard that it caused Detective Pikachu to trend today b/c so many people were comparing the quality of the two movie trailers.

I don't know if I've ever seen a movie get crapped on so thoroughly that it caused an indirect competitor to get a ton of free positive press like this.

Is gangsters paradise relatively cheap to license for ads/previews/tv/movies? Seems to have been featured in a lot of shitty things

This? This is the movie Jim Carey came back for? Method acting Andy KAufman really fricked him up.
