I don't see what all the hype is about. For years I have heard how Pulp Fiction, and not Forrest Gump, should have swept the Oscars in 1994. After sitting through all of Pulp Fiction, I just don't get what people see in this movie.

I give it a solid B. A good, but not great, movie.

Lovers of Tarantino are loud and vocal. They drown out the others like you who thought it was an enjoyable movie, but not worth the hype.

Of course, you probably didn't like it as much precisely because it is hyped so much.

i think it's the greatest original screenplay of any movie I've seen.

I would've voted for Shawshank myself, but I enjoy all three.

I did enjoy the Bruce Willis segment. That, Harvey Keitel, and the Christopher Walken cameo were the best things about the movie.

I prefer True Romance and Reservoir Dogs over it, but I still think it's a damn good movie. The Bruce Willis apartment scene rocks.

Watched it with my 22 year old cousin a year or so ago. She felt the same way. Maybe it just doesn't hold up.

Eta-to be honest, QTs whole cornball black comedy thing has gotten pretty stale over the years. Same old shite, proliferated by Rodriguez, Roth and very tragically, RZA.

It's pretty cool for what it is.

Jackie Brown is a better film though.

The coolest thing about it imo is that it has an original, interesting, and effective structure. Movies like that don't come out every year. Forrest Gump is a very good movie with great general appeal. However, nothing about how it told the story was very interesting.

Forrest Gump had a very clear and concise story that was easy to follow. I hate waiting 2 1/2 hours for the punch line to a movie. Up until the final scene, when we re-visit Tim Roth and Amanda Plummer in the coffee shop, I was going to write off the film as nothing but mediocre.

OK but what was it about their reappearance that was such a magical payoff?

You should have already known the story was being told out of order before that point.

I'm right there with you, OP. but on this board Pulp Fiction is the movie equivalent of Breaking Bad which we know is the greatest achievement in human history.
