So…name a movie you like.

Entertaining movie I enjoyed it. A little overhyped. Liked the end credit scene

Just finished it. The music scenes were really well done. Like most vampire movies, it goes to hell in a handbasket. I’m a sucker for the blues and a good ole juke joint, so it was cool to see all of that. All in all a decent popcorn flick.

The twerking scene ruined it for me. Could have been a decent movie but went wayyy too long and was just too boring. Music was pretty good though.

Just a black vampire flick. Nothing more, nothing less. Those reviews were blown way out of proportion

That scene had so much potential, but yea it showing the future of music dulled the experience for me. I lived in Nola long enough to be well familiar with bounce/twerk music. It’s played out.
Had they stuck to the mysticism, spiritual realm as it was relevant to the blues, old south struggles, that scene could have been elite. I really did enjoy the music overall in the film and it stuck in my mind as I was trying to go to sleep. The parallels with “vampires” sucking the soul out of music is a very relatable and relevant modern theme.
Won’t get into the “white man weak and bad” themes, as that trope is as played out as Big Freedia twerking at Jazz Fest.

I enjoyed it. Very good for a little intrigue and a little horror but overall a good watch. Entertaining throughout i thought.

Overall a good movie. Nothing groundbreaking or that unique. Music was really good.

The one playing the old Sammie in the post credit scene is blues legend Buddy Guy. Thought that was pretty cool, as I'm a big blues fan.

Ended up watching the whole thing. I appreciate the effort to make an original movie but I just can’t get into the supernatural stuff.

It was just OK. Could have been about 40 minutes shorter
I feel the exact opposite. I think the movie could have been stretched into a season long show in and not been as rushed.
Critical part of the movie and plot was pushed into the credits scene which you can barely even see when streaming it.

That was about it for me. Too long. OK at best

Finished it last night. I enjoyed this take on a vampire movie a lot. It flowed a lot like From Dusk til Dawn, but wasn't as campy. The acting was good, and I liked how they wrapped it up in the mid credits scene.
I did think it was a little weird how all the vampires fled the house after the main actor killed the voodoo lady so she wouldn't turn into a vampire. And the little asian lady was pretty annoying.
But overall, a great flick.

Took me the weekend to get through it… first 1-1.5 hrs was pretty boring to me. Once they all got into the juke joint it was decently entertaining
I’d say 5/10. Decent watch I guess, wouldn’t ever watch again

Cool movie, I was introduced to the characters within the first 30 minutes, second thirty some background work on who they are and why there were doing what they were doing. next hour, see what emotionally tied each others to a few losses on the way while shite was hitting the fan.

Cool layering of the progression of culture and music over time periods within the same building and how it was a trance and magical force from within that never dies....

Stack shows up to Sammie’s show in 1970s (50 plus years later) and offers to turn him into a vampire and reveals that he promised Smoke (who refrained from staking him through the heart) he would not come after him or hurt him.

The after credits scene was awesome. I wasn’t expecting that. And it was cool to see thar Smoke was protecting Sammie even when he let Stack go.
I do love how many people downvoted me on the last page because I loved this movie though.
