Seriously, what was that???

This! WTF

My uneducated guess is WWIII breaks out in the future seasons and these bunkers are the only people remain? Or atmosphere becomes inhospitable?

I don't have a clue what I watched.

I semi know what happens in the books, and this kind of aligns with it.

They have diverted a lot from the books though, so who knows where they are going.

The placement was just not good and did not flow. It was too abrupt and then the feeling in technology displayed did not match. The Silo is pretty advanced, and the world they showed at the end did not seem advanced enough to match the Silo world.

Are show spoilers allowed?

Book spoilers, no.

Show, yes.

This! I thought for a bit it jumped to some other show and it ended with the fire.

Why is it assumed that was a scene from way in the past?
Why couldn’t it be the present? They talked about a dirty bomb going off. Maybe that’s where the silos are and it’s all an experiment. The rest of the world is living normally and the silo people have no idea.

So timelines. In the show the last rebellion was squashed 140ish years ago and there has been multiple rebellions it seems, based off all the names and what what Bernard have said. The timeframe they have been in that silo for is centuries.

You have to guess the technology of the Vault is locked essentially from when it was built. We are probably 50 years from having that kind of infrastructure/technology ability, let alone the time it would take to build 51 silos like that could be another decade. It would be well over a trillion dollar project.

The flashback it basically to what appears modern day Washington D.C. and to me that did not fit timelines or they were just being lazy and did not want to create a D.C. and environment 50-100 years into the future.

The little details matter and that scene really killed the futuristic dystopian vibe, let alone trying to blame Iran. China would have been more believable, but Apple is not going down that path

For me, it was the pez shot at the end since it was a relic in the season. I don't remember the sifnificance of the pez earlier in the season though.

Never crossed my mind buy you're right. It could be.

I want to know more why Sims' wife was selected by the AI screen thing. That was an interesting bit.

Thai episode was all over the map and not very good in my opinion. I loved the idea of a present day scene, but they could have shown a little more than blind date gone wrong. Camille’s ascension up the ranks seems forced and makes no sense( has she done anything other than give a safe house to 2 people and start a rumor?). The raiders magically split in 2 factions halfway thru a rebellion just to have some bad guys other than IT. And the safeguard procedure wtf- so they tell it’s a 51st silo injectioning poison and killing everyone, yet Lukas is scared to tell anyone even though he knows they are all dead anyways. I love the scene where Juliette came back, very well done.

Tell everyone what? About the poison? I thought she was meaning people were poisoned when going out to clean. What's the deal on the 51st one again?

I think that’s the easiest question to answer: The AI hates Common as much as we do.

I rewatched the last scene and I think he is one of the designers of the silo. They mentioned that all elected officials have military backgrounds now and he was in the Army Corps of Engineers.

The dirty bomb they referenced happened in DC, so I’m guessing it’s a false flag to get his group into power. It also happened within the last two years, because they mentioned he is a freshman congressman and he was in session when the bomb went off. I’m guessing they escalate the tensions and eventually cause the war that makes the silos necessary.

I assume the 51st silo is run by the same group he is part of.

B/c he knows the 51st silo can hear and see everything that goes on in the silos. He tells Bernard something about them listening when he tells him whatever he said.

and i dont 'think the flashback was present day, it was just a wild thought i had immediatly after watching it. It's a flashback for sure, from probably 200-300 years before what we see in the Silos.
One observation i had though was I thought the Capitol building they showed looked odd. All they showed was the white top, yet the bottom part didn't look white. I know it was nighttime, but i don't think you can find a picture of the Capitol where just the top rotunda is lit up and white, and the bottom part looks dark, like it did in the that last scene.

Where they were eating, the Capitol Tavern, is not the name of a current restaurant in DC. It looked like Martin's Tavern, which is a famous tavern that many presidents have visited frequently, but I don't think it was that tavern as the inside looked different, and you can't see the Capitol from it, but it's TV so they could have just edited a certain way. What made me think it was that restaurant was the plaque that said it was Nixon's booth, and Martin's Tavern has plaques like that in honor of different president's that visisted frequently. Why is this significant? I don't know. I ate there once and thought it was cool to sit in the same booth as JFK.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the congressman asked the guy scanning him "does it ever turn red" when testing for radiation, and the guy said no.
and he was carrying a book that said "the new normal" and had a picture of two people in hazmat suits.

It was referenced in last week’s episode. 50 silos plus one to watch over the 50. In this weeks is heavily implied the 51st wipe out whole silos when trouble starts. Who knows why. This whole IT/51 silos being evil mass murderers is wearing on me. I mean we can assume they are saving society by having the silos - doesn’t make sense to mass kill them when they find a book about the blue ridge mountains.

Why would Common be one of the designers of it?

Also, why did Bernard's key not light up like before? What happened between the previous episodes where it did and the last one?

I meant the congressman in the final scene.

My understanding is due to the safeguard. It would light up when Silo 51 needed to give him instructions. He thought it was good that it wasn’t lighting up until Lukas spoke with him about the safeguard. Then he realized it wasn’t lighting up because 51 gave up on their silo and were initiating the safeguard.

Ahhh, gotcha.

Wonder if we'll get to see any of the instructions Bernard got back 51.

I need to rewatch that last few minutes after this thread.
