It'll be a shame if this show doesnt get a 2nd season. Just finished the finale. Man that was an incredible finale. So many good ways it could go after this.
It got lower viewership than a previous show on Showtime that got cancelled but maybe this will be an exception to the rule.
Jeff Daniels really is a fantastic actor.

It is a great show. I didn't realize that was the finale and was bummed when I went to watch it yesterday. I think the issue is that it is in Mare of Easttown's shadow. I thought that originally, but obviously don't anymore, but I saw a lot of reviews saying that early on so people probably didn't watch it. The last episode was really good.

Think I watched the first episode and it didn't really click with me.
Might give it another go.

Its slow rolling at first (the problem with not being able to binge watch it). Its definitely one of the better shows I have seen recently.

Yea I was the same way, you dont see many shows with 9 episode seasons.

That and Showtime, like Starz, is not good at promoting shows. When I open the Showtime app, I had to search for it. You would think it being a new show it would at least show up on the first page/new shows/Showtime originals section, much less advertise it before another show starts. You could easily have a Showtime subscription and not even know the show existed.

You aint kidding. That entire 10 minute(ish) climatic scene with Jeff Daniels was tense. I was legitimately nervous lol.

The end gave me Rust Cole going back to Galveston vibes

Dude thats a good comparison. When they walk up on the meth house and they look over and see that dude in his underwear with the mask on. That was one of the chilling scenes ever. Just was so realistic feeling, not in a demonized or shock factor way. Just good writing.

The problem with this show is that it's aimed at working class, middle America, Rust Belt audiences and not many folks in that area are going to watch something starring Jeff Daniels, who has openly mocked and loathes the very people he says he is one of in the region at this point with his insane politics.
I would give the show a shot if he weren't in it, but I'll never watch a second of it now.

Hated the ending. Too many questions....

Link? Are you talking about The Newsroom? That's similar to what he did on that but he wasn't a writer.

Ok I might have taken you serious but you cant speak on why a show failed when you haven't seen a second of it. That opinion/logic is pretty stupid. .

major plot holes
-his fingerprints would be on the gun that was used in the murder/suicide
-season finale shoots the drug dealer point blank against his ear, no hearing issues

I agree but still enjoyed Jeff Daniels character. Words of wisdom for whomever does watch it, FF any scenes with the gay guy and the mom. it has nothing to do with the story

The Mom had a lot to do with the story, she was basically a puppet master. The weird kid, I mean his character is important but yeh the scenes of his life on the lam getting milked like a cow weren't crucial to the story.

Wasnt he wearing gloves the entire time?

When he shot that he kind of stumbled back and the score/music changed and I took that as it ringing his ears. He shook him for sure.
Not saying your wrong on either of those though.

I noticed the ear ringing issue as well. But he winces and seems to have larger stuff to worry about so I figured they just downplayed it a bit to make it look like his fight or flight was up so much he was basically just on autopilot at that point. I wish there would have been some resolution with Billy though.

What part of the moms attempt at company health care had to do with the plot? Did I miss something?

I wasn't talking about that. She bombed her own car, burnt down her house, primed Jeff up to do what needed doing.

Oh yea. I saw that. Whew! But am I right? Her agenda for company insurance and the gay dude's exploits had nothing to do with the investigation?

Yeh I can see that opinion. I think it was just to show that she was shrewd at getting people to do things she wanted. As for the friend's exploits and cow milking, yeh that had 0 plot significance
