Should Annie Hall (or any other Woody Allen film) still be watched?

I have seen Annie Hall and have been wondering, should Woody Allen's films still be watched? The influence the film has on culture is immense and the humor can entertaining. The problem, I don't feel right supporting a maniac who sexually assaults his own child. The art of film can also be used in context away from the creators but the art always has an artist. So I'd like to here your opinion on this because I personally feel mixed about my decision of seeing Annie Hall and wanting to see Crimes and Misdemeanors. The same thing goes for people like Roman Polanski or the now Kevin Spacey if you have anything to say.

It doesn't affect how I view the art. I see it as something separate from the artist, though the artist can give the art context, so I guess that should be considered.

My opinion, just enjoy watching Hollywood burn. They’re going down and they are no longer capable of looking down from their high moral perch when this has been going on all this time. This is far from over, especially since “The Big Dick @ Nick” has yet to be exposed.

I liked Annie Hall. Manhattan bored me. Saw them both for the first time a couple years ago.

Allen’s personal shortcomings never even crossed my mind when watching them. I’m somewhat skeptical about all these supposed sexual crimes, as it seems to be trendy to be a sexual victim now, but it is cool if it results in Hollywood being less political.

Have you seen Amanda Bynes? Really name one underaged girl who worked at Nickelodeon who didn’t turn into a mental patient? The only one I’m aware of is Emma Roberts, and she’s the daughter of Eric Roberts and the niece of Julia.

I worked for a producer at one point who confirmed it for me. The online persona of RDJ has said he’s the most grotesque of all producers in Hollywood. I’m confident it’s true.

EDIT: not 100% certain that is Schneider’s kid, but I’m sure he raped her.

I still enjoy watching his silly stuff. As for the more serious films, Hannah and her Sisters is still a favorite.

I have both liberal and conservative friends who are compiling lists of actors and directors that they will boycott. The conservatives recently added Star Trek: Discovery to their list because the actors took a knee, the liberals have taken big hits with Whedon and the spiderweb that began with Weinstein. They're going to end up living in an entertainment near-vacuum, with a select list of mediocre actors and directors to choose from.

I have a friend who was a lifelong Buffy, Angel, Firefly fan... and now... "That's it. I'm done with Whedon. I'm never watching that stuff again." Seriously? You're going to give up stuff that gave you years of enjoyment because one of the people associated with it fooled around with his employees?

I've been a fan of Woody Allen films since I saw Bananas in the theater. Most of his 70's stuff was good, loved Annie Hall, was way into his films during that Zelig through Radio Days period of the mid-80's.

The allegations against Woody Allen hit me hard and affected how I watched his movies for a while, but I got over it. Polanski is an admitted child molester, and we still watch Rosemary's Baby fairly often. I can separate the artist from the film, just as I do with every Hollywood douche who makes great films.

With Allen, if the Allen-Farrow family wasn't so fricked up from top to bottom, I'd be more inclined to believe in his total guilt. But Farrow is insane, seems to have had a kid with her ex-husband while still with Allen, and the entire family life that those kids grew up in was garbage. After seeing them all interviewed in recent years, it seems that Soon-Yi is the most sane of the bunch.

I must of missed this. What did Whedon "allegedly" do?

Cheated on his wife. Slept with women working on his shows. Since he was the employer and they were his employees, it is designated as being sexual harassment.

Personally, I think that's all between him and his wife, unless he was using his title to coerce women into sex.

That's a pretty weak reason for a boycott. Did the women come forward and accuse him of harassment? I googled and all I could find was an article with his ex-wife calling him a "serial cheater".
