This would've been a good storyline if Superman had a bigger role in this movie. Billy Batson in this movie needed a male role model, perhaps father figure to look up to, not chasing after mommy dearest who abandoned him.
It's what Superman in this DCEU would really do if he knew the Shazams are a bunch of kids.

The downvotes are insane. This was a fun movie, great castings, and the humor when he was discovering his powers was some of the funniest shite I've seen.

Oh, yeah I knew Shazam was talking about Black Adam in that story. I thought I missed his actual appearance.
Was there a post credit scene? I caught the mid-credit scene with Mister Mind, but my little nephew was about to bust a bladder, so I could stick around past that.

Actually it's a pretty good casting and fits Freddy well as they share the same kind of personality. They're both dorky as hell.
This was pretty close to what I saw on instagram and I thought it was just a creative fancast photoshop.
I would've thought they would've left Mary alone as she already looks old enough to be Mary Marvel but I digress.
I guess it's possible to see a spoiler and then still be shocked by that spoiler watching the movie.

This is far and away the best DCEU movie to date.
Yeah the CGI at some points isn’t peak Marvel Studios, but the story and performances were awesome.
Love the Brody casting. And the Goode casting...smoking hot.
Also, love the nod to the movie’s clear inspiration, BIG.

You may think that but then you realize that her character in Shazam form still has the mind of a small child that's not even close to 10 years old yet......
Also, I wonder what improvements they're going to do with their new lair and if they're even smart and competent enough to do that.

Fell behind recently but they introduced Watchmen into the official DCU so not sure if Superman or Manhattan is at the top of the DC currently.

Overall I liked it. Most of the stuff I disliked was related to changes Geoff Johns made with Flashpoint going into the New 52. Really the only change I liked from him was Eugene, Deb, and Pedro replacing the old Marvel Lieutenants (3 dudes that all had the same name as Billy).
That said, I agree that the start of the movie was a little iffy. It felt a bit rushed and choppy to me and really didn't set up Sivana as well as it could have. The entire fake study thing was odd b/c of how fast it's over with. I think it might have been better for Sivana to have gained the 7 Deadly Sins later in the movie. The Sins also probably could have been handled a little better. They were essentially mindless monsters for most of the movie. I also can't understand why they passed up the star power of The Rock as Black Adam but oh well. Some of the CG early on of various characters flying was iffy but overall it was acceptable.
The cast is where this movie really shines. The foster family dynamic is well done. All the kids and parents play their roles well. The girl playing Darla is painfully cute and even people with the constitution of Scrooge will smile at her parts. The script is pretty funny though there were quite a few moments that would have hit better had they not all been used in the ads. There were some really nice touches for fans and I was absolutely stunned that they set up Mr Mind for future movies. That actually gives me hope they might attempt Kingdom Come at some point.
I'd say this is a huge step forward for the DCEU. It's just a shame WB didn't have the kind of people who respected and liked the source material as much as those who put Shazam together did from the start as this would have been the perfect movie to open a phase 2 of a DCEU.
