Half the shite mentioned has nothing to do with Halloween. Scary movies are scary movies. Do you want to get spooked, or do you want to see trick or treaters getting murdered?

Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Not much blood, but the gritty documentary type filming is creepy.

I've always like American Werewolf in London too.

Did you not read the OP? Op said they didn't want a slasher/gore flick.

Anything Dario Argento.

Especially "Suspiria" and "Deep Red". Both early to mid 70s, but stand up well. Brilliantly directed and very suspenseful!

Eta: they're Italian movies with voice overs and might be on Netflix

Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre

spooky as frick, especially when you're watching it alone in the dark. Gave me a sick-to-my-stomach feeling, and made me feel dirty and grungy and want to take a shower. Cannibal Holocaust is another.

I've been meaning to watch the original The Changeling for the longest time.

I remember when I was a kid seeing the box for it on the shelves at the Video Store.

It freaked me out.

Watched The Omen last night. Netflix does not have an abundance of good scary movies on their instant streaming. The Omen was ok. Not very scary though. Kind of hard to take the antichrist seriously when he's wearing a leisure suit

Will add some of the other movies mentioned to my disc queue and hope they show up before Wed.

A fun/scary Halloween film is Trick r Treat with Anna Pacquin. It's filmed as several short stories that kind of all tie in together. Some are funny and some are downright creepy. It also has some stupid hot chicks in it.
