It was TERRIBLE IMO. Just miserable all around.

I wouldn’t mind a bit darker take by Eggers but still overall true to the original story of optimism and redemption.

It’s one of the all time great stories to me and I generally enjoy almost any adaptation.

I remember that version. It was hot garbage! So depressing and void of the hope and redemption that is at the core of the story.
