Lost another great 70s TV actor. Hal Williams was everywhere in the 70s.
LINK
He was most well known for his role in Sanford & Son, but had a long run in the 80s hit show 227.
He also played Goldie Hawn’s drill sergeant in the movie Private Benjamin (he reprised his role for the short lived TV series of the same name).
Hal Williams was a fixture in TV for the first 25 years of my life, popping up in just about every popular TV show during tha era…from Good Times to Quincy to Dukes of Hazzard.
We shall never see his like again. He had a good run. Right in!

I liked how he would always have to translate what the white cop said to Fred and Lamont.
The white cop would say something like: "A Caucasian male allegedly committed a code 57 violation upon a vehicle in your possession."
Fred and Lamont would look at Officer Smitty who would say "a white dude stole ya truck."

Great actor.
The 227 theme song was great and his role on Sanford and Son is iconic.

RIP. I watch Sanford and Son most weeknights. It is on weeknights at 9pm on Antenna TV.

That would be a 211, after which the victim might commit a 187 in revenge.
A 57 is a hit & run.

Without looking it up, is there anyone still alive that was in Sanford & Son?
This was one of my dad's favorite shows and when I watched it a bit as a kid, I didn't like it/understand it, but watching it now as an adult, I love it. It's such a funny and relaxing show. I'll usually watch some episodes on IFC whenever it's on.

Well shite, an episode came across my TV Feed yesterday where Fred's sister had married the White dude and they thought "whitey" had stole their money, and called the cops. Only to find out his sister stole the money so "whitey" wouldn't be temped. lol
RIP, my good officer
