I’m still waiting on a Darth Vader movie that will never come. One where we get to watch him hunt down Jedi. Maybe bring in a few of the Inquisitors.

would not start any new trilogy for the big screen until at least another ten years

Why try to make a “trilogy” at all? Just make some good Star Wars movies, and if one of them ends up being great, then you turn it into a trilogy or whatever. That’s what Lucas did with the “A New Hope” nonsense - retroactively turned a big hit into a trilogy. It’s easy to leave some hanging threads in a stand-alone movie without necessarily setting it up as the first of a series. Takes off a ton of pressure that way.

Think you’ll get something like this with the Obi Wan Kenobi series coming to Netflix.

The real problem was that it was scatterbrained and made no sense, while destroying characters and lore that was interesting and could have been more beneficial to the story.

He's just not very good, IMO.

Because there is an infatuation with modern artist to "subvert expectations." It can't be the thing you are expecting, and it can't mean the things you think it means.

It has to be different, on purpose. Not because the story requires difference, but because the artist/creator/writer's primary goal is to make something not the thing it is supposed to be.

Broad statement, I know, but this sentiment is strong in culture, media, politics and art right now.

I took this for Rian's ego. Many modern directors are faithful to major works. But you could be right here.

I also think Rian felt he was competing with Abrams.

Dumb idea to switch up directors. Consistent visions are vital to any good trilogy.

There must be a great trilogy out there with multiple directors, but I can't think of it.

Not only were there different directors, but different writers.

The sequels had no chance to be good with that formula. Just a mess.

That just makes him even more of a hack.

I imagine some of these shows, especially Mandalorian, maybe rogue squadron Ahsoka and Rangers, will be connected in some ways circa mcu and will culminate in an epic trilogy.
