May the best move ever to watch once and never see again.

Incredibly well done but damn what a punch in the gut.

Only lesbian scene that left me depressed afterward.

Yes I should clarify. It’s the only lesbian scene I’ve personally watched that left me depressed afterwards

I'm actually struggling a bit with drugs right now. Think I'm gonna it and try and set myself straight. That is one scary fricking movie. and so much truth to it.

This is one of those movies that's so much better if you watch it high. Kinda like Inception or Lebowski.

Ain't that the frickin' truth. It's not that hard to watch. In fact it takes some time to even get rolling.

Here's your upvote.

Any movie that has a drugged out, fricked up Jennifer Connelly doing a greasy double dong scene makes me smile.

"A lap dance is so much better when the stripper is crying".

Bloodhound gang. 1999.

After watching that movie, you realize that Trainspotting is basically an advertisement for drugs.

Yeah, Trainspotting had a "sense of fashion" to it for sure. I can only remember bits and pieces of that movie. I found pretty blah. Minus the toilet and dead baby scene, it was pretty forgettable.

Trendy and fashionable? Yes. Compelling? No.

If folks really want to be moved by addiction. They won't find it in quasi-artsy shite like Requiem or somewhat silly shite like Trainspotting. But they will find it in Leaving Las Vegas. That movie will god smack you for sure.

I like Trainspotting a lot, but it makes drug addiction look like a fun way to spend your 20s. Yeah, there are some downers, but you're hanging out with your boys, you look cool, there's a great soundtrack and you're pulling hot underage girls. Requiem is just brutal.

Also, one of the great movie scores.

alright man. you are so cool

have you never felt emotions during a movie? hell I cried during Marley and Me in highschool. BuT iTs JuSt A MoViE. no shite. doesn't mean it cant affect you or move you in a way. and to say that Requiem isnt a tough movie to watch for some people is ludicrous. I had a cousin overdose and die from painkiller and then assumed heroin addiction. glad you got a laugh at how soft I am though

In some ways it was but to me it was just sorta artsy or whatever.

Have you seen Leaving Las Vegas though? If not, watch it. Nothing comes close when it comes to the realities of addiction and what brings a person there.

Strip away the art of Requiem and the coolness of Trainspotting and what you have left is an unapologetic, completely unflinching portrait of alcoholism from the opening scene to the very last unforgiving second. And when I say last second, I mean last second.

I could watch Requiem a thousand times and simply come away thinking "ok, a gritty movie about junkies". But Las Vegas? There's a sadness to that movie that's just pitch perfect and utterly fricking hopeless.

If you think Nicholas Cage is a hack. Watch that movie and you'll be reminded of what he could've been.

As a teetotaler myself, I think LLV is more about that hopeless/helplessness that defines those who love the addict but simply cannot help them, rather than those feelings within the addiction.

I always assumed that is how those dealing with clinical depression feel most/all of the time.

How do you not love a movie where Jennifer Connelly is getting double fricked, butt to butt by a two foot long jelly dong?

Yeah, I used to own it on VHS. I thought it was good and Nic Cage was great in it. But I found Requiem to be more harrowing.
