Saw this movie again over the weekend and made the mistake of researching it after.

Almost everything in the movie is a lie.

1) The school had already been desegregated for years. There was no picketing on the first day of school or any other time.

2) the other schools in the district were also desegregated. It wasn't mix school vs whites.

3) Much of the success of the team is credited to the fact that they benefited from a 3 school merger, not the brilliance of their coaches. Suddenly they had the largest concentration of talent in the state. Despite that fact, the coach only made the playoffs twice.

4) The coach was not well liked and universally hated by players and coaches alike. The team and coaches mutinied and got him fired.

5) the championship game was not a nail biter, it was a blowout and their star player played. He wasn't in an accident till after the season ended.

The coach is going around the speaking circuit getting 15k a pop based on a Disney fairy tail reimagining of history.

Remember the Titans is a lie

I know. The reason I looked it up was because I really liked the movie. It was only inspirational because it was supposed to be true. Not sure what it is now.

Based on a true story means they have creative liberties.

Every major element of the movie is a fabrication. The ONLY thing that's true are some (not all) of the characters were based on real people.

Based on a true story...means that some major elements of the story is true.

About the only thing true in Remember the Titans is the fact the team won a state championship. And even that game wasn't as close as depicted on film. The real score was 27-0. Not 9-7.

Yea, that is even worse than the retelling of Rudy.

Rudy at least had some elements that were true. They just made him more likable. Remember the Titans appears to be 100% fake.

Don’t care. I still love it.

There is one thing that is not a fabrication. You cannot replace a Gerry Bertier.

This is very true. But he wasn't injured until AFTER the season was over. He played in the final game.

Lulz

Good thing he wasn't hurt until after his senior season then.

This movie lies almost as much as The Blind Side.

RTT is a good movie, but it’s hard to enjoy it after learning the truth of the matter.

The coaches daughter wasn't an only child living with her dad. She was 1 of 4 children living with their mom. She wasn't a football fanatic and never went to Boones house.

I throughly enjoy it for what it is. If any of it is true then that’s just a bonus.

I also enjoyed The Patriot. If I want an accurate retelling I’ll watch a documentary.
