I envision the Corporation had set aside a Truman Account to pay him a lot of money on the day he gets out to mitigate lawsuits.
In this world, the Truman Show was on the air for what, around 30-35 years? If there were anything illegal or something that would result in civil liability, would the show have even been able to air for more than a few months? I think we've got to assume there is no avenue for lawsuit or for him to receive backpay

In this universe, the 13th Amendment was repealed, amended in part, or never existed to begin with.

Well, in this universe, the corporation was allowed to adopt him and his parents have the right to raise him as they see fit so I'm not sure the slavery argument works unless at the age of 18 was not told of the real world.

Isn’t that exactly what happened? He’s in his mid 30s in the movie, and still hasn’t been told the truth.
Also, on a number of occasions, he attempts to investigate or otherwise escape his surroundings and he is forcibly thwarted from doing so by the people behind the show.
If that isn’t involuntary servitude and/or slavery, I don’t know what is.

What do you call kidnapping + coerced, involuntary servitude?

They could do a "Truman Show" Reunion special to see How things really ended.

I have no doubt that Truman and Sylvia more to Fiji to live and she took him on a true world tour.
It would be interesting to see how Truman would react to see his "friends" and "family" again.
I don’t think Truman would ever want to see them again and absolutely refuse to do a reunion. It’s more interesting in the immediate and not 20 years down the line. And Marlon’s the interesting character in all this. You have to first and foremost look at him as an abuse victim and human rights atrocity like Truman, but he’s also in on it. Expanding on Marlon is an interesting direction to take it when he wasn’t in the Truman Show that much. I do think Truman after a while might forgive Marlon, but no way in hell he’d forgive the others (and rightly so).

His "wife" takes him to court for child support and alimony. She wins.

There's actually a disorder out there where people think they are on a TV show. I wonder sometimes.

I’ll wave to the mirror as I’m walking out the bathroom every once in a while just to let them know that I know.

This thread made me decide to watch it again, and ya Marlon no doubt is a tragic character in all this. When he's having a heart to heart with Truman and Christof is feeding him the lines, he's struggling to say them and starts crying. It had to hurt him to do it.
Oh and I don't think Christof would be rebooting anything because I'm pretty sure he committed attempted murder at the end of the movie when he tried to drown Truman.

Truman was his property though, and the Truman Show has the GDP higher than several dozen countries. They were going to at least try to reboot the show. I’m sure they settled with Truman and gave him like say a 2% gross of the Truman Show, but they’d quickly try to reboot the show.
As for Marlon, there is a deleted scene where he spots Truman but lets it slide in hope of him escaping. They haven’t released that scene since that probably could be used in a sequel flashback if they ever decided to make one. But here’s a deleted scene I thought they should have left in the movie. It’s clear everyone in the room is a sociopath but Marlon: YouTube
